Re: Cheeky theiving gypos...

Guys can we please refrain from using the G-word that was in the original post title, like it or not,(agree or not) its actually racist and not a good image for the board or mag.

Thanks in advance.

See the PC brigade are out in force today

Re: Cheeky theiving gypos...

Tony its sunday have a day off eh pal.

If there are any posts containing the word FAT i would request that they are met with the same urgent treatment, as anything untoward fatties will be offended.

Thank you

Re: Cheeky theiving gypos...

Stuart I am on the board as a 'Mod' and as I explained to the OP (who was very understanding and apologised for his mistake) it is not a good look for the board or magazine to have racially aggravated posts displayed for all to read.

There no need really is there?

And for the record if there were any other insulting content on here that caused somebody offence I would take that down too. And this isn't me 'flexing my muscles' or working overtime,(boring) its just common sense.

Back to topic...

Back to the OP. What I would do is exactly the same as I did 10+ years ago after being sold irons that turned out were senior flex.
I went back to the shop and demanded a refund. They refused.
I started chipping balls around the shop with a wedge off the shelf. I offered them 3 choices.
1) Phone security, have me chucked out and face a story in the local press.
2) Phone the police and have me arrested for practising/damaging in their shop and face a similar story OR
3) Give me my money back....in cash....there and then, nothing more said or done.

Once the new boxed Titleists came out and I started eyeing up the shop windows with intent, they gave me my money.....funny that :)

Re: Cheeky theiving gypos...

Try a polite letter, pointing out that the vendor was quick to suggest no proof but not forthcomming with information as to where they got it from. All such businesses should have records to prove origin of anything they buy and sell.

If they are selling lost and found stuff, write to the club suggesting the club should remove said pro or assistant or both, as it is not in keeping with good membership relations or fairness, let alone possible criminality. Do this and the club will take notice, they dont really want the clubs reputation tarnished if they can help it.

I wouldnt let it lie, not something as blatant as that.

Yes. This is the way to go.
Presuming that the pro (or whoever sold you your putter cover) is not the top man and sits under a commitee/manager/director/proprietor then a letter to the right person who is his boss should see you right.

Re: Cheeky theiving gypos...

I'd get on to Callaway. I do not think they would be too happy to hear this from one of their dealers. This sort of thing reflects badly on them even though they have had no input in this farce. I'd make a call to them and explain the situation.

or threaten to do this :)

Re: Cheeky theiving gypos...

Sorry but how it Gypsy a racist term???

It derives from the Roma travellers who called themselves Romanies. It is a slang or possibly derogatory term but racist it is not.

Is it any worse than the Scots being referred to as hairy, the Irish as thick etc???

PC gone mad and on a golf forum, especially when the PC is incorrect.

Don't question the mods. be warned

;)

Re: Cheeky theiving gypos...

Does this mean we will never hear Cher sing....'Gypsies tramps and thieves' ever again? :( ;)

Re: Cheeky theiving gypos...

Jimi Hendrix would be turning in his grave with his band of Gypsies.

I don't understand how its racist or come to mention that how Pikeys is a racist word. They are not a race of their own, they are usually white just have some cultural differences in the likes of tarmarcing.

Gypsy isnt a racist word but putting Thieving infront of it (i think) means your stereotyping and thats deemed as naughty and unacceptable. I remember ages ago there was an adult comic with a strip in it every month called something similair to the original post and the comic was told to stop it because someone from the Gypsy/traveler Community said it was wrong to tar all travellers/gypsies with the same brush so the comic strip was pulled and about a month later the Gypsy that complained was caught robbing a house.

Re: Cheeky theiving gypos...

Good job we're living in an enlightened age !

Firstly, the original heading did not have the word Gipsy ( a noun) in it. It used a abreviated word which was used as a derogatory term.

Secondly, I think you'll find that since Gypsies are defined as a race, the use of the term used in the original title is deemed to be Racist.

Perhaps this whole thread should be pulled to avoid further confusion ?

Re: Cheeky theiving gypos...

Just like GM that, any sign of people discussing anything other than the usual 3 threads "pull it".

So you can sell your home and buy a mobile home and you change races... boy I didnt know that.
