It's been said before but I'm going to say it again.
Any Manufacturer that offers an adjustable club without a wrench to adjust it, is cheap.

TM and Titleist are the main culprits. If you want a wrench to adjust your fairway wood, you have to buy one separately. Buy a driver and you get one.
What's that all about?
Don't they want you to adjust your fairway or is it because it doesn't make a difference - if not, why make it adjustable..? There's just no sense to it.
And before you say - Titleist want you to go to a fitter and get the best results, then leave the settings as they are....Well why have it adjustable in the first place? Have the adjustable ones at the fitters and make the club you buy a fixed head -simple.

Cobra manage to give one away with the Amp fairway - well done to them.

The rest?
Bunch of Money-grabbing cheapskates.

The idea is tour fitting, by your pro. Get your club set up by your pro, and leave it alone. Same as the tour guys do. What qualifies you to adjust the club?

Or, may be, most who buy a fairway buy matching collars and cuffs.

Or, use a Torx driver.

Or buy a cobra. Um, no, may be not.

A fair point but when's the last time you saw someone with a matching 1,3 and 5 wood? These days with the progression of custom fit etc it's becoming a rarity to have anything other than a 'mixed' bag. Casting my mind through my society partners from today I can't think of anyone who had more than two woods from the same manufacturer,

And why is my TM driver and 3 wood made in China, yet the pricing has never gone down. Cheap labour doesn't seem to mean cheap pricing just more profit...

The wrench came with the Driver, fairways and hybrid clubs I got? Taylormade, have 5 of them now. The same wrench fits, the R7, R9 and R11 clubs. Its only used for the weights in the R7 and the same weights are used across all the clubs.

Dont the "R" ranges require different ammounts of torque to tighten the bolts/weights correctly?

Guilty as charged :D

I am with Ian, they should assume nothing and give you the wrench every time. when you buy bike or diy furniture etc it comes with a toolkit, when you buy a pc, it comes with some method of backup cd or way to make a back up cd. Golf clubs should be no different.

TM and Titleist wrench fit each other so just buy a TM one off of ebay as they are cheaper for some reason.

Again I agree that they should give you a wrench.

Its just like car manufacturers who give you a can of foam to inflate your tyre instead of a spare wheel!
