There are often interesting threads on here that provide many diverse opinions on things that can affect us all.
A few that come to mind:

Filtering into one lane at road works ,early or late.
Replacing divots on tees.
Olympics.

I just wondered if anyone has changed their opinion on any subject because of discussions on the forum.

On the three mentioned, no. However I did learn that I have been repairing pitch marks incorrectly for the last 8 years, so have all of my playing partners. I suppose that is not changing an opinion but it has changed my future actions 🙌.

The only way I change my opinion on lane filtering is if I buy a BMW in which case, I wouldn't give a flying beep what anyone else thought.

Not particularly fond of people saying you are sat on the fence. That's me and the worst that happens is you get splinters In yer butt. Sometimes it helps if people see both sides of the story before " blundering in". Re the the topics you have mentioned they are light weight compared to Brexit, immigration, Nigel Farage and Trump. Having said all that, yup even though I do like to sit on the fence I have been educated by some comments and opinions on here.

Haven't had any opinions changed.
But have had some extended you could say. Lottery money spent on grass roots sport springs to mind.
Also it's great to see who just takes a stance without thinking and who actually believes enough to hold strong throughout. And who ends up name-calling. You can have totally different opinions and still try to respect others. However I've noticed that I'm as bad as any when it comes to name calling and sarcastic comment, even if I sometimes manage to hit the delete button before I send.
Personally I think that any discussion that goes on for more than 5 pages should be moved to the pub where you can continue face to face over a good pint or two.
Obviously that would be real ale - any idiot who drinks common lager just doesn't have an opinion worth listening to.....
😎

Anyone would be a fool not to be open to opinions that could change theirs. The problem arises when these fools think their opinion is the only correct one out with facts.

theres no one like that on here though is there......?

Some people on here make some very good and interesting points that challenge my own perceptions and I've found myself seeing their view and adjusting my own perceptions. Some just try to ram their own point down your throat as though it's gospel and are blind to any alternative. All part of the rich tapestry that's the GM forum

I drive a BMW and I always join the back of the queue and wait my turn like everyone else (should).

I thought Audi were the new " Road Hooligans"

As I've owned 2 of each of these in the past, it should be obvious what my opinion is on 'filtering'!
Edit: Gordon, that's not filtering, that's queueing! What should happen is that the 'queues' become equal length and everyone lets 1 (and only 1) from the 'other' lane in!

I don't believe I've changed any of my 'strongly held' opinions.

One of the major benefits of forums is that, like playing a round of golf at many/most clubs, they give the opportunity to communicate/discuss with folk from markedly different walks of life - something that is to be encouraged imo.

If someone shoots past half a mile of people queuing to get to the front then they don't get let in by me.

cant beat a game of chicken, slighest gap and its stick the edge of the car in and keep drifting over till one of use gives up : )
