looking to change shaft in my 6 iron.
is it possible to do without a heat gun?
thanks

Yes, if you put in some just off the boil water and leave it standing in it for about 10 minutes, it should soften the adhesive. It may then just turn straight off the shaft, sometimes though it's helps if you have a vice and a rubber clamp to lay the old shaft in. if you wrap the club-head with plenty of cloth to be able to get a better grip, you should be able to twist it off.

If you do borrow a heat gun you have to be really careful not to damage the ferrel, unless you got some spares.

thanks bud. have some great gloves will do the job combating the heat :)
cheers

Ok:) If your clubs have been stored in the garage or in the trunk of your car in cold climate (freezing or near over a few winters) the adhesive will have hardened anyways and it will be less secure. Thats why sometimes if you do a lot of practicing on range mats it sometimes looks as if the ferrule is coming away from the head, but its really the shaft coming loose and starting to come out of the head.
That's why it's better to store your clubs somewhere inside that's heated and not in a place that gets really cold.
