Hi all
Just an update on my progress on this wonderful game. After suffering badly of shanks and awful shots shooting 120+ just about to gave the game up when I changed s simple thing in my setup by this I mean solid athletic posture and my magic move of keeping my right arm elbow pit facing forward that's all I think my god I'm striking the ball the best in my life! I had never broke 90 I broke it 6 times in a week I'm steadily getting better and better my confidence is through roof! I can literally play any shot I think of, it's changed my whole game I always was a decent golfer until the shanks got me for a good 2 years but this 1 move has brought all the fun back I feel I could easily break 80 in the summer! What is your take on this move? Do you have any great stories of a change in your game? Thanks for reading

That's mightily impressive but don't get ahead of yourself this game has a habit of fighting back.
Of course you cant play every shot you think of but confidence is a wonderful thing.

Have you got an official handicap

Hi yes I am very impressed indeed I practice 5 times a week and play 3 full rounds so I guess the hard work is paying off I know only to well how this game can throw you up and down but when you have a solid pre shot routine I feel this is a completely different feeling I have had before, as I'm my backswing I would tend to pull the lawn mower cord motion resulting in horrendous shots so folding right arm correct has had a huge impact, what I mean by hitting any shot is I mean I can easily draw or fade the ball into a green I've always been able to shape the ball just a lot easier now. But yeah confidence is wonderful along with a correct fluent swing not over the top shank, my official handicap is 15 looking to really get that into singles by end of summer

Pleased it seems to be working but as Pokerjoke says, it will come back at some point and bite you. That's simply the nature of the game. As far as practice goes, five times a week seems a lot and I'd go for quality over quantity. Are you hitting balls, working on this feeling you've got or is it a more structured practice?

Yeah like I say I have been bitten absolutely loads of times in the past I can live with a sprayed shot or fat shot but you know a shank is out of play dead, so what the difference is since my new move I have went from hitting a multitude of shanks on the course to zero haven't come close to a shank, it does sound excessive but I work on short game a lot chipping putting etc... then another session I will pretend to play the course in my head hitting driver then iron there's a rough grass section too so I put my ball in terrible lies to practice getting back into play basically giving me tons of confidence- I practice hitting my short irons like 9 a comfortable 140 or I will knock it low if I need that shot so I will switch between the shots-then I might work on a draw as that's my favourite shot I will aim over a point and draw it back to target. Honestly keeping that pit facing out has changed my thought on whole game after nearly giving it up but I very much understand there will be bad games which may be in 90s but better than the 140+ I'd go around in with the dreaded shank

Nice work. I would recommend having a little note book and writing down a review at the end of each practice session and what you are aiming for from the next one.

That gives you a good starting point for each session and ensures you don't forget what is working well...

Good luck
