Playing there in a couple of weeks and wondered as we are not playing the Twenty Ten (which I would imagine is the best), are the other two any good? and which is the best?
I played the Montgomery course last summer in the rain. I found it to be difficult and there are some very challenging holes. The Monty course is good because some of the holes on the front none overlook the Ryder Cup course and there are some excellent views. If it's raining, make sure you have the right gear because it when it rains, you will know about it as we saw in the Ryder Cup.
If you are walking the courses the Monty is a long slog, with plenty of hills.
My 3 ball all prefer the Monty as it has more variety of holes but is shorter with quite a few par 4s only requiring wedge 2nd shots.
The Roman Road is longer but less varied. The rough was very testing when I played it.
Both are good quality courses and very enjoyable but neither touches the 2010 IMHO. Upgrade if you can.
I've done the 2010/ Monty combo twice now. Both good courses, although the weather was attrocious both times. this made the 2010 a hell of a challenge. I like the Monty, it resembles my home course somewhat, and I fared better there both times than the 2010. Would advise the buggy though, it's a hell of an up and down walk.
Very excited about this, good thing is we're going Thurs 7th, which is the 1st day of The Masters so we'll have a cracking round (hopefully) on the Roman Road and then kick back and watch some golf. Then next day onto the Monty, I'll have a PowaKaddy so hopefully wont be too tired!
