GOLF TRIP
Hi all, not been on for a long time, but as we have had the scottish open and open, i felt compelled to write a review of two of the courses me and the guys played 19-23 june.

Castle Stuart- We played here on two different days and with two different types of weather, day 1 was fair with little wind, day two was a bit ,well, wet and windy!
The course itself was magnificent, reasonably wide fairways, along with greens like billiard tables. Fantastic views along the moray firth to inverness and the kissock bridge. The hole i enjoyed the most was the short third, which is driveable, but really a risk and reward hole.
Also of note is the par 11th, with the green perched on what seemed like the waters edge!
It has to be said though, the course really showed its teeth on our second visit, with 20-30mph winds and persistent rain......our stableford scores were somewhat less than on our first day here.
All in all, would highly recommend a trip here, as we were treated well, from the amazing banter with the starter, to the happy bar staff!

ROYAL DORNOCH
Well what a gem of a course! A pleasure to talk with Roddy , the kilted starter, who enthralled us with tales of Tom Watsons favouitr hole here! Definitely more " linksy" than castle stuart, a visually stunning course, and a tough challenge. Lots of really great golf holes, but the one that sticks in my mind is the par four 7th , which is the high point of the course. The whole fairway was surrounded by the resplendent yellow gorse making a leaked drive a no no! Many of the holes required a bit of thought from the tee box, hitting to some plateaus , leaving a less than simple second shot in!
And what a pleasure to arrive on the 9th green to find a half-way hut, when food was badly required!
Again highly recommended for a visit, the one down side though was the barrage of yanks, without any ideas on course etiquette. Many tees and greens were in close proximity, and their booming voices(shouting woo-hoo, great shaaaat etc) were a bit much when trying to concentrate on a 5 foot par putt!
