Caroline Lucas...

I'm afraid that in today's PC world the fact she's 'green' and female means she belongs to the untouchables and so sensible challenges with honest motives become classified under one or other of the two banners.

That alone needs challenging then!
50% of the population excluded on grounds of gender.
Just another also ran who has no chance of government so can say what she likes ,it will never happen and she knows it!

Generally find what Caroline Lucas has to say fairly reasoned and sensible even if her politics is not for you. She speaks well in public and ain't afraid to stick her head above the parapet.
However she seems to have gone a bit haywire with this latest one, I don't get it at all. That's nothing to do with being male either.

Not going to get into what one gender may or may not be better at than the other gender, in politics it's equal in my eyes so what she said is plain sexist as well as daft. Of the political characters I admire there are just as many female as male.

Imagine if it were the other way round, a male political leader advocating a male only cabinet! Would be slammed.

Has let herself and her party down.

if she was also disabled and drank from the furry cup she would be untouchable and would probably be given free reign to march into buck palace and tell liz to do one!

I've just spat my drink out reading this :ROFLMAO:

She simply said that every avenue should be explored.

From what I have heard I don't think she said not including Abbott was a mistake as such - her simple criteria for inclusion was leader or deputy leader of all parties who may be interested in participating.

Maybe she has said that using that criteria - thereby excluding Abbott - might have been a mistake or too limiting.

No, she didn't have any BAME in her choice.

I know. As she explained, that's because there currently aren't any BAME women in leadership or deputy leadership positions in the parties she approached.

Were any LGBGTQ women invited? Maybe she could've/should've invited wee Roothie and maybe she might have accepted...

Do they have to sit around a table now and prior to beginning announce their sexual orientation? Is your perspective on Brexit as a woman different because you like to sleep with other women? I'm desperately trying hard not to say it but 'the world's gone..........'

I appreciate incidentally that you may also be asking a question in the same manner as I am, not because you believe it should be the case. Equally you may believe that should happen, as is you right.

Personally, male/female, your sexual preferences, none of this matters. Bangs head against wall..............

This whole sexual orientation thing is just a joke now. Then again, we could have an England women's cricket team where everyone is out ……

it matters not a jot to me composition of the group invited - I get the criteria Lucas choose - and if she wants to suggest this then the criteria she used is probably the most appropriate as a starter for ten. If it went any further (which I doubt v much) then I expect it would expand to include the full spectrum of female politicians to be as representative as possible of the electorate.

How can any group of only women be anywhere near representative of the electorate when they don't have a willy, unless batteries or plastic counts;)

All a bit pointless.

Personally think she was doing well to make a consistent and well reasoned case for a second referendum and generally does very well to get her message across despite being 1 of 650 MPs and winning a holding a seat in FPTP as a miniority part.

But this doesn't stand up at all. Yes - politics, and many other areas, remain male dominated but jobs of this nature have to be given to those with the best ability to do the job.

You could have an all female cabinet with Esther McVey, Nadine Dorries, Theresa May and Priti Patel and you'd have 4 people who have been in government and either been sacked or resigned.
