My previous insurers are now quoting me 5X what I was paying before my recent non fault accident.

I have used confused to get some quotes and most quotes are coming back in a similar region to what I'd paid before the claim.

Any suggestions as to who might be good to go with ?

Ta.

go on one of those comparison sites, easiest and most efficient way. Plus if you go with a certain one, you could get a free meerkat!

LV have always done me a good deal, and were able to quote a reasonable amount for sticking my 18year old daughter on the list. Handy, as most other companies charge outrageous amounts. LV was merely eye watering...

remember whoever you choose to buy via Quidco as you'll probably get some decent cashback.

Have you tried M&S car insurance? I've found them excellent and of course you get the good M&S CS as well.

I changed over to Saga when the Coop CIS whom I'd been with for the last 10 years, increased the price by almost 30%, without any claims being made against them.

Saga were also cheaper than the original CIS price.

Are you after the cheapest car insurance or the best? I think unless you have had to claim for an accident or something, it is very hard to judge how good a company is. We all want the cheapest quote and then moan like mad when they make it difficult to get money back when you need it.

I find that using the 3 major comparison sites works best. Do a quote on all 3 and take the cheapest from there.

I find that usually all 3 will give you a different quote from the same vendors. I am with Hastings Direct at the moment and Go Compare gave me a cheaper Hastings Direct quote than ComparetheMeerkat did.

Saga for me too. We have three vehicles, (2 BMWs and a Range Rover) and non costs over £120 fully comp! :D

EEK! your 3 cars combined are cheaper than my 1 car (and its not a BMW or RR) and I've had no claim in 27 years!

all down to postcode I would reckon.

I'm not necessarily after the cheapest, just one that might treat you decently when you have a claim after a load of years being loyal.

I continue to use a local insurance broker... Might be a quid or two dearer but when the pooh hits the fan a whole lot easier to deal with than a call centre in a far off land... One to avoid More Than....

The only times I have had to make a claim was when I was with Direct Line and they were superb every year. 1st claim was when I was hit on a roundabout the day before Xmas Eve. Within an hour my car was on a transporter and my loan car had been sorted for me with an apology that it was a lesser model due to availability at the time of year that was upgraded the day after boxing day.

The second was when my sat nav was stolen from my car. Within a couple of hours I was sent a text to show at my nearest branch of Currys I think and they would hand me a brand new one.

Cannot fault that.

Thats pretty good service, my insurance is due next month and I'll bet it goes up, it always does. Might have a look at Direct Line and see what they come up with.
