Evening all

I’ve been very fortunate to get a week In Lanzarote booked in and even More fortunate that our lass has fully approved me taking my clubs with me!

Looking for a hire car so grateful of any advice. I’ve hired before in Portugal and found The whole experience a nightmare of hidden charges etc.

Does anyone have any recommendations? Thank you

If its anything like current costs elsewhere brace yourself before you ask for a quote!

I’ve seen prices that are circa 250 for the week for two insured drivers. That seems fair.

Just trying to avoid bandito outlets that smash you with hidden taxes and insurance Caveats etc

If you are going to stay near Costa Teguise, the course is a short taxi ride. (Currently in Playa Blanca, isolating after a positive test this afternoon - but I didn’t bring my clubs)

Thanks pal.

Can I ask how easy / reliable / cheap you found taxi hire?

Half the reason for hiring a car is for golf, trips to beach and supermarket runs (staying in a villa)

If it’s easier to just taxi we might not bother.

Are you planning to book from here or locally in town. Whatever you do don't book Goldstar although they are usually the cheapest. About £230 on Holiday Autos or Jet2 for a week.
I have found booking locally to be cheaper than remote booking but its a few years since we went and I can't remember the company we used in CT. And locally you can often get a very good rate for two or three days.
We are going at end of the month Airport taxi/shuttle €40 return for 2.

Taxis were simple to get for us as we generally booked through reception, perhaps not possible in your situation. It was two years ago but I hear prices have shot up. Sorry, haven’t needed one this time so I’ve no real update.

I always use Zest.
Pay them in advance a small fee for full ins and it’s stress free. Have to use cc for token deposit (approx €300) when collecting car. But if ever there is a claim, zest issue full Refund within week.

At the moment Zest are dearer than Holiday Autos

Ave just been to the reception desk and asked. Currently staying in Playa Blanca. Bottom Line they don’t know. They use a third party company and there shut at the moment. last October I stayed in Costa Teguise and drove past the course a few times. Called in once re asking for price and it’s a good bit cheaper in the afternoon. Prices were cheaper at the course than ringing through the hotel. I hired a car in the resort and was easy to do but I went to a couple of places before I picked a mini soft top.
As rule fan has stated do not use Gold car. They are robbing illegitimates.
If picking a car up from the airport, the car hire stalls are straight in front of you as soon as you come Out of arrivals. Been to Lanzarote twice and love the island. Timamfaya is a must, drive down to Yaiza and through the lava fields. If you love sea food head to Il Golfo.
Get well Soon Near Hull, your not missing owt. It’s bloody raining. ???

If you’re going to hire another car this year, I would recommend insuring your excess charges. Currently you can get 12 months European cover for just over £40. The pressure they put on you re any minor knocks etc. and the huge costs if you have any small dents or scratches means that people get bullied into taking excess insurance at hideous prices. For a small fee you can ignore all this faff. Have not needed to claim but others who have say it is painless and makes driving a lot more hassle free.

I was gobsmacked how cheap taxis are. But we booked through reception. one other thing. My mobile With EE Was a new contract after July 7th last year. I have paid £10 to be able to use my phone plan here for a Month. If you are on a contract before July 7th, you don’t have to pay. It has been a godsend.

Have a look for a universal insurance policy that covers all the additional stuff you need/want. Think the last one I got was about £45 for a year.

Croatia, for two weeks in July, the cheapest quote I’m currently getting back for a Fiesta sized car? Just shy of £1200. I kid you not.

I'm going to the USA in July, hired a car for 3 weeks. Airport pickup....£2000, downtown pickup......£700!! And that is from a hotel that has a free airport shuttle bus so simple to get to the car.

We have used Zest several times in recent years in Portugal and have never had any issues.
