My cover with the AA is due for renewal.
Are there any recommendations for alternative suppliers.
We have 2 cars and probably do less than 10,000 miles per year between us.
With the AA we have Roadside , Relay,Home start and joint cover the quote is £185.00.
Is this reasonable ?.
I ask the question because for the last few years our Bank had a deal with their account. We have now changed banks.
Thanks for any input.

Get a quote from rac, which will be lower as a new customer and try and get them too match it.

I never paid full price on renewal.

The other option is too look on cashback sites and see what offers are out there.

Don't forget Green Flag!

No idea of the precise details and your circumstances, but would think they would be keen to lure a customer of the 'big 2' away!

From what I have heard, their service is at least as good too.

I pay about £105 a year for exactly what you have with RAC

RAC cover the person rather than the car, joint (family) membership with everything you should require starts at around £140.

Regardless of whose car your driving or a passenger in you're covered in the event of a breakdown.

Is your Insurance due soon as some are offering breakdown deals with insurance cover.

GEM gets best Customer Service recommendations, was a little unsure when I changed this year but had to use them to get transmission and steering locked Merc to a Specialist, they were faultless.

Good value for money too

I swap every year. The renewal quote is always extortionate and so I switch to the introductory offer with the other. When I call to avoid the auto-renewal (which shouldn't be legal) they always offer a reduction, which I refuse as they should offer existing customers their best price from the start. They always argue that the introductory offer is a subsidised price to attract new customers, and the renewal price is the actual cost. It's a load of frustrating nonsense, having to go through this little dance every year.

I always thing of paying for Car break down cover every year as a mugs tax.
I honestly don't know anyone that has broken down roadside in the last 5 or some years. Even with some having older cars. Surely you chance your hand until(if) you breakdown, then take cover out over the phone/via smartphone.

Except most policies won't cover you for the first 24 hours, so you'll have to sit and wait a day to be recovered!

Probably not, as a large number now exclude breakdown cover for the first 48 hours to avoid just that scenario.

Used them three times over the last 5 years - twice for the wife and once for myself

Overall the picks up would have cost us over £600 so certainly think it's well worth it

I think the minimum cover needed is to get you off the motorway asap other than that a breakdown anywhere else can often be managed yourself. Any decent local garage would prob recover you for free if they had your business! I used to work in recovery so seen it all!!

How would that work? Say you break down on the Motorway 200 miles from home at 11:PM.

Just looked at theirs, it's personal rather than vehicle cover and covers motorbikes as well, looks very good for people with multiple vehicles.

If you have a Nissan and use a Nissan main dealer for your servicing, you receive complimentary FULL RAC cover for the following year every time you have a service carried out.
Just saying
;)
