we get a load of Brent and Pink footed, thousands of the latter, they don't do any harm and fly off as soon as anything goes near them.

Horrible birds - I think the only bird I consder 'horrible'! Egyptian Geese are much nicer!
Bad Luck. They'll be there for the Summer too! In fact those at The Shire are already sorting out their heirarchy/potential pairings!
Watch out for their pellets on the airways they frequent. They can be entertaining to watch, from the comfort of the clubhouse, in the evening though!

Use, with adjustment, the old recipe for cooking Mutton Birds (Sooty Shearwaters).....
Pickle them in Bucky (local variant; doesn't apply to Neds as that - or equivalent these days - has already been self-administered); simmer them for 8 hours with a rock in the pot; throw away the bird and liquor; Eat the rock!

We have several large flocks of Canadian geese plaguing the course especially by the 18th green where we have a pond. Crapping everywhere including that green which is going to eventually cause it some damage. I'm sure the greens staff are on it though. We have a few Egyptian pairs around the place but these tend to mate for life (so I'm told) and so tend to congregate in far smaller groups. The Canadian geese are causing a real problem but somehow they always seem to mysteriously disappear when Royal Ascot comes along and the course is taken over with helicopters landing and taking off. I just wish however that is done could be done now and nip the problem in the bud
