Can a Club Golf Pro become President at his club

Surely a club pro shouldn't be president? He's not a member who plays in competitions which in my eyes all presidents, captains or whatever should be. He's already in a highly respected position why would he even want to be president, seems a bit daft to me, let a proper member have the honour.

I think something to do with when he arrived 7 years ago, we had 200 members,5 years later we had 470 because of him

And that's solely down to the pro? Don't know too many that get that involved in the running of the club and especially recruiting new members. Most just concentrate on their own business as a pro within the club. Playing devils advocate I'm wondering if there's a deeper motive involved

Something is seriously wrong here. Hard to believe we have sufficient information!

The club prospered under the outgoing committee who on behalf of the members employed the pro.

The pro retires, applies for membership and is rejected by the committee and then they all resign.

What on earth is happening? I feel them, must be a little unsettling for everyone.
