What do you do if you have to call someone through? In my case I would call them through, then take time out, in other words I would switch off while their playing through. Some people call you through then think it's right while your hitting for them to hit along with you. Why can't they just stand there while you go through? This happened to us on Saturday, the guys infront called us through but while we were hitting they found the ball in question then went ahead and played on. We were teeing off and they just appeared onto the fairway. There was 7 of us hitting balls up the fairway. I told them that as they had called us through that they should stand there until we were away. I'm sorry now that we went through but thats another story.
Do you think it right for everyone to hit at the same time or like me think thay should stand there until the 4ball going through is out of sight?

As long as anyone I have let through plays the hole reasonably well then I will stand and wait for them to get out of the way. But if a match I let through proceed to smack the ball into the trees or the rough and insist on taking an age to find their balls, I will carry on playing my next shot, stopping again to let them through should they find it in time.

I was playing a match once, and the guys who waved us through played up too. It took us 3 holes to finally get through them, by which time I was livid, and went on to lose the match.

I am not one to hold a grudge (much), but they are never being waved through by me, ever.

Here it is word for word from the rule book

'Players searching for a ball should signal the players in the group behind them to play through as soon as it becomes apparent that the ball will not easily be found. They should not search for five minutes before doing so. Having allowed the group behind to play through, they should not continue play until that group has passed and is out of range'.

As a regular solo player I get called through quite often. I don't mind the group in front playing the hole as a 3/4/5 ball and then letting me go on the next tee. That way they don't hold up the group behind me. But in a 2/3/4ball I would expect them to wait until we are through.

If I call thru, i'd expect to wait until they walk off the green before playing another shot, simple as.

Yep, me too.

I put my whole game on "hold" for however long it takes. If I stand there making endless practice swings and getting impatient, disaster usually follows.

Id have a drink and bite of whatever food I had with me, I would watch for wind conditions etc but wouldnt be pulling the club out until they were well past us.

not so sure about waiting until they're off the green; that depends on the length of hole.

I'd adopt my normal practice of letting them get their second off and get moving before I played (that is assuming they are out of range by then).
