given the horrific weather this year and the number of days my course (garesfield) has been closed, I'm wondering if anyone elses course is fairing better and open more often. We have been closed the last 2 days and probably again tomorrow and last time this happened the course was still a mud pit when it reopened.

This time last year I had already played more than 4 times what I have so far this year and I'm narked to say the least. The way I'm feeling I may even switch clubs next year based on how often a club needs to close.

I appreciate most clubs have been closed at some point this year but surely my club has been more than most

Thanks in advance.

I joined my club in NOrth Yorkshire las year and was told 'we are very rarely closed because of rain, the course is very well drained'. We have had numerous days closed so far this year due to waterlogging including 2/3 consecutive days...but the weather has also been rather exceptional and the greenstaff do their utmost to limited the impact so I cannot complain.

You are NOT alone mate
Last weekend , Westerhope was CLOSED Saturday & Sunday
This week , been CLOSED Friday & Saturday , and NOT looking likely to get a game , as planned , on Sunday:angry:

The rain has been horrendous , Id say most courses have had same probs in our area

We've been closed more this year than anyone can remember despite extensive drainage work, the April flooding was the worse that has been in living memory.
We have a fixture back log and rearranged board comps have already replaced July and August medals.

We've not been closed at all but it is a links course. Probably too far south for you.

Anyone know what Alnmouth is like?

Thats the jist of it Brian. With the horrendous weather MOST courses will be closed.Theres nowt people can do about it.One of the few courses that DOES beat the rain in our area is Ryton.............it was open today has superb drainage and very few better greens in the area.
If this bad weather situation continually happens through to the Autumn I will give my former club serious consideration to a winter membership

I'd consider it as the weather is putting a right downer on things, so even a few rounds extra would make all the difference. Think I might use the TVGA card before long and head to ryton
