I just took a punt on a used Titleist 910 D2 9.5 with Aldila RIP 60 shaft. I fiigured if its not the shaft for me then I can change it easily enough.

What shaft do you use and how have you set the club up for loft, draw, fade etc?

I only just got the club and took it for a 5 hole test drive last night. I hit similar fades with a mid trajectory to my existing burner on the standard setting of A1. The one thing I have to change is the length of shaft its a whopping 47" I was choking down about 3"!!!

I did some reading, the butt end can be trimmed no problem but the head will feel lighter as a result which could suit or maybe not. Has anybody used the surefit weight kit? Might need to invest in one of those.

Any advice or experience with the D2 welcome.

My understanding is that the weight kit that goes in the sole is really for those looking to get the ball up more if you add weight and down more if you take it away. Is the shaft longer than standard? the made for Titleist RIP is only 60 grams stock so on the very light side.

What is your ball flight like with the 910 and the Burner and are you enjoying the 910 as it is?

I think that what you are asking is missing the point of these drivers Sawtooth.

I have a D2 but my settings are peculiar just to me and that really is what they are about. We all have different swings and, in my case, the D2 is set to D2 and, for me it gives a gentle fade where the setting is supposed to be a low draw. The idea is that the pro who you buy it from, does a proper fitting, and hands it to you set up for you - thats what mine did. So mine would almost certainly not suit you and vice versa.

Having said that, it is a fabulous club and my scores have improved since I got it

Hi Chris and thanks for the reply. Sorry I wasnt looking to copy settings as such just interested in how people have their 910 configured. I'm interested in knowing what people are doing with the surefit adjustment ie. D2 and weights if they use them.

Shaft length is of particular interest but thats a broader discussion and will open another thread on that!!

Good to hear you are enjoying the 910 D2.

Hi Alex, its still very early days as I only collected the club yesterday!! Early impression is that the ball flight is mid height and more penertrating then before I think but with the same degree of fade as with the old burner. Although I did manage to find a nice draw with the old burner by accident sometimes I like to think I can now do the same with this club. Time will tell.

You've definitely got a custom shaft on that. the standard from Titleist is 45 inches.
Shafts are avaialable on eBay and from places like Online Golf if you don't want to got down the trimming/re-weighting route

I've got the 10.5 version. I can't remember the code but I have mine 1 setting closed and the lowest loft.

I started with the RIP 60 Stiff shaft but Titliest had a fitting day at my club and they done a shaft fitting a setup for me and recommended the above settings but with a Graphite Designs YS6+ Stiff shaft which i now use.

I used the RIP for about a 2 months, then I've had the YS6 in for the past 4 months. If I'm 100% honest I can't tell the difference. Apart from the colour :)

Imurg, I've just taken the shaft off the head and measured it, its just shy of 46" tip to end of grip (butt).

This begs a question about how to measure the shaft now that you can remove it because with conventional glued in shafts I'm sure that you measure from butt end to the ground when the club is in its normal address position.

If I do that with the shaft assembled its 47".

Help, I'm confused.

First question:-

The weight inserted into the sole of the club will have a coloured dot on it. What colour is the one in your club?
(It will be white, green, red, blue or Black)

Did Titleist talk about the shaft length at all?

Well the red dot weight is the Standard weight that was supplied with my 910D2 9.5 with a standard length RIP 60 stiff shaft.
The Club was supplied as 45" and measures that when measuring from the top of the grip to the ground running parallel to the centreline of the shaft. The shaft on its own measures 44" when removed from the head.

The std red dot weight gives my club a swing weight of D4.5. The lightest weight (white) gives D2 and the heaviest (black) gives D8. My club has a multi compound grip which might affect the swing weight compared to the standard grip.

No we didn't discuss length at all. We tried about 5-6 different shafts, they all seemed to be the same length.

I think the majority of the shafts are of a similar length. But I may be mistaken.

Thanks thats very interesting Simon thats a about 2 inches shorter than the shaft I have. Was you custom fit for this club , How tall are you? 2 inches is what I had in mind to trim back making it a 44" shaft.

How are you finding the 910?

Simon just posted that his shaft is 44" off the club, mine 46" if you get a chance please share what you have in your driver Westy especially as yours was fitted by Titleist. Also I knows its personal question but worth also knowing how tall you are. Its not an exact science because arm length matters as well but all the same it will give me a rough idea.

I can't measure my current shaft as it's in my locker at the club but I have the RIP and a Diamana here.

Both measure 44" from the top of grip to the end of the surefit adapter with the shaft out the club head. I'm pretty sure the YS6+ is the same.

I'm also 6'1" tall if that helps.

Yes that does help and Imurg was bang on the shaft I have is custom, +2" . According to the specs that I found 45" is std and there's a +2" option and a max length size 47".

Taking 2" off just returns the shaft to normal std length. Therefore the published measurement of the shaft size on the Titleist web site is when the shaft is on the club just as it would be if the shaft didnt have the surefit adapter. 45" (but only 44" when you measure it off the club head)

Thanks all that has helped to clear things up.

I have a Project-X in mine and it's set on A1. I'm sure it's only the standard length as well, I was never made aware there were longer options, but I'm only 5'8" in heels!
