Well just bought the Razr fit from American Golf in Bristol went in looking to buy a Taylormade rbz tour 3 wood and they did not have them so started trying some drivers out. Never had my swing speed checked and I was a little surprised. Swing speed was around 95 ball speed mid 130 spin around 2000-2500. I tried the i20 as well and spin was to high. Have got the stiff as I would say its between a regular and a stiff which seem about right for my swing speed Another thing I was disappointed with was the lenght. I was only carrying all the clubs approx 240 /250 with abit of roll on top of that. Alway thought I hit it better than that but it was straight so can't grumble. Problem now is that I'm £300 pounds lighter and still need a 3 wood. And just had a call from my home club that the tour rbz are in the shop next week.

Carry of 240-250 is an excellent result for 95mph swing speed with a 3 wood. If you get that on the course, you will be doing well. Could be a bit of AG inflation going on.

In the OP, it was a driver carrying 240, which with a swing speed of 95 I am still surprised at. I would have thought that it would be nearer 220 at that swing speed.

Take AG distances with a pinch of salt. They had me hitting my 7 iron with 170 yards of carry, now whilst this gave me an ego boost I knew it was a load of cobblers. Went to the practice ground along with my bushnell, hit a few balls then marked the spot where I had hit them from and went to collect the balls with the bushnell in hand and guess what 148 yards of carry and that was on a sunny day with no breeze. So I think a lot of what they say is absolute rubbish to be honest and on this basis I would never by clubs from them.

The monitors that they use in AG are fine for side by side comparisons between clubs but that really is about as far as you can take them.

Congrats on the new toy Tab, nice to go an spend some money!!

In your sig you have "Callaway FT9 Aldila x stiff" is that meaning extra stiff? How come you have gone from and X to a shaft you describe as between R and S? was the FT9 something you got second hand and just took whatever shaft was in it?

Well just check my stats again and a lot were carrying 220.230 and finishing approx 240/250. At least now I can try to get my swing speed up to 100 hence why I went with the stiff shaft. Plus as haven't played for for a week with a better warm up I think I should get 100 swing speed no probs. I see why my mate say I hit it like a girl now but I always say at least it's on the fairway

My local pro always says I should have a stiff driver shaft after seeing me hit it but I like the green Aldila shaft and could not find a ft9 with a stiff so had to buy the x stiff which I do hit well. Will have to sale my Taylormade r9 superdeep now. Have a rip stiff and a fubiku stiff shaft to go with it plus the weight kit so all on eBay tonight I think.

American Golf must have loved you...........
Went in for a 3 Wood...........and came out with a Driver..........!!
Nice One
And u already have 2 Top Notch Drivers..........u got it bad Mate
U sound just like a friend of mine, he collects Drivers too.....and Putters..........

Hope the New Driver works out for u all the same

I bought the same driver 10.5 stiff and love it to bits. I dont know my swing speed or all the other stats, the pro took me up the range and I had an hour belting everything he had RBZ etc. He gave me the the Razr fit and it was like finding a child that I had lost years before, but had held for a few fleeting seconds. 3 weeks in now and hitting 280 - 320 average, so I would assume a fast swing, hence his advice for a stiff shaft. My Razr fit is called Dave - he will never let me down!!!

Are there any typical stats for driver distance based on swing speed and shafts?

i.e.

Carry 240 yds regular shaft swing speed is between 95 and 105 mph

Carry 260 yds stiff shaft swing speed is between 105 and 110 mph

You don't lose children and than find them years later??? What sort of analogy is that??

Also 280-320 is not an average....

There is no industry standard for flex, so the flex of a stiff shaft in one brand can be very different in another, and you might need a stiff with a 90mph swing in one, but only need stiff in the other at 105mph. In addition, other factors such as tempo (faster tempo needs stiffer shaft), feel preferences, quality of strike and club head all make a difference too. As a general rule, I think you could look at a stiff shaft in something like a Razr Fit or a R11s or RBZ at a swing speed in the mid 90s, but you may also try a Regular and prefer it.

Sorry - wine and typing don't mix, a poor analogy indeed!

What I was trying to say very badly was that I didn't now what I was missing until i tried the Razr Fit, peopel say they have an epiphany, this was it for me. What an asset in the bag. 280 - 320 depends on how well it is hit.

Apologies again.
