Hi

Just looking some clarification.

I have an FT-5, when I play I notice that the flight path of the ball always starts right. even when I hit a draw, it starts right and draws back. Now I know that the club face is .5 deg open at address. My bad shot is a push, would a driver with a sqaure or slightly closed face at address help or hinder? Or would .5 deg really make much diff? any advice would be great.

Thanks
JT

From my experience, it wouldn't make any real noticable difference. I hit .5 open or 1° closed equally well.

As you already hit push-draws (out to the right that curve back in)...then your blocked shots happen when your swingpath comes through a little bit too straight at impact and not enough from the inside.

I would assume that the shots you block are the ones you didn't really commit to?

FWIW: Moving the ball position 1/4 inch would make more difference than changing the club.

How do you know these things? That's my golf described to a tee. Our third is a 230 yd par 3, I can't reach it with an iron so play 3 wood, not full out or it'll go long and where does the ball go 9 times out of 10 - straight block to the right instead of my normal draw.

However now Bobmac has convinced me to buy a 5 wood I will hopefully have the perfect club for that shot.

Thanks,

I have spent the last few months trying diff ball positions, and found that it can radically change my swing plane! I have since resolved to teeing up where I always did, just inside left heel(right handed) I think that the push/block usually happens when I am getting tired, or trying to protect my shot, so yeah, not commiting!

Was hoping to get out and play at the weekend, 1st medal Saturday....not anymore by the look of the weather!! ;(

Cheers

'Cos it's my swing too..... :D :D :D

If you don't have enough club to reach then you need to grip right down that 3-wood and hit it hard! Easier said than done :D

Buying the right club is a good call :)

Some food for thought: Us people that draw the ball actually leave the clubface open by up to 15-20° at impact..  that is why the ball often starts off 20° to the right before curving back in.

Fortunately our swingpaths come from the inside 21°
