Caddying for the first time tomorrow

Haha, I've been playing for about 3 months, he's been pro for the last 10 years, I don't think there will be many club selection convos going on. I suppose my question should've been. Any advice on things I should definitely avoid doing?

Just ask him what he wants you to do. In all honesty he probably just wants someone totale the weight of the bag. You'll pick up his routine pretty quickly no doubt.

Just make sure you thoroughly clean his clubs and make sure the grooves have no dirt in. And his ball if he chucks it to you.

Tend the pins and be careful of his and his opponents putting lines.

Dont cast shadows in their eyes line, dont stand directly behind anyone taking their shot.

If you're asked for a yardage, make sure you are certain, even if it means checking it twice.

Good luck.

The classic.......'keep up and shut' would probably be fitting in your case.
[No offense intended]

You omitted the 1st part of Caddie's Law - Turn up!

I've had an occasional bevvy with Edinburgh Jimmy (features in '4-iron in my Soul') in my time! Some interesting stories - if you can get through the thick accent!

@OP Hope you enjoyed it!

What a cracking day that was! My pal won, but it was a real lesson on how to get round a course for me. Thanks for the advice chaps. I did just look after the clubs, tend the flag and kept quiet. He did ask me what I thought occasionally...I just agreed with him and reminded him of times I've seen him nail similar shots.

Loved it.
