caddie rip off!!!!!!!

WARNING RANT COMING------- just opened an e-mail from a comp.sec. that is running a national knock out comp 8 qualifying courses best 2 from each goes to a grand final main prize 5 days in dubai,the cost to me to enter is £60 that includes a pre match breakfast and a 2 course meal and goody bag all in all not bad as the course i am playing is superb,along with the bumph on entering was a tick box to ask if i would be using my own caddie or do i wish for one to be supplied ( think they want the tour atmosphere) i chose to supply my own,my pairs partner and good friend thought it would be a nice day out and have a few drinks later,the cost for my caddie is £75 yes you read it correctly £75 this is based on a guest rate green fee and cost of meal ( the brekky is free) needless to say i will be carrying my own bag,rant over!!!!!!

What do you expect to pay somebody for a days work?? Would you do a days work for £75??I have caddied on numerous occasions on the PGA European Seniors Tour and the figure you are stating is about the norm I have been paid by pro`s and amateurs alike.Remember the caddy has to get to the venue and in some cases pay for an overnight stay.I caddied for a US Amateur for 5 rounds,leading up to and the Qualy tournament for the Seniors Open,I was paid £85 a round and at the end of the week left with next to nothing.If you want to play in tounaments that give the tourney experiance whats the suprise paying £75 for a bag carries days work?..........
 
OOPS :o LOL,£75 to bring your own caddy!! Sorry I misread that earlier proberly as my brain couldnt compute how outrageous that is.I genuinely thought they were supplying a caddy for £75,but to be charged £75 to bring your own is totally ridiculous,paying a green fee for a caddy?? never heard anything like this before.....

They certainly do, Mrs H was going to come out in a buggy for 9 holes with me at Orange lake last year. It was actually going to cost more for her to sit in the buggy than it was for me to play golf :confused: They were doing a twilight rate for golfers but there was no discount for passengers. All very odd. Needless to say I politely declined their kind offer.
 
its unreal that you are expected to pay £75 to take a caddie and doesnt tie in with the thought in the OP of trying to create a tour atmosphere if they wanted this urely they would encourage caddies rather than discourage with extortionent fees
