Hi all,
Just bought my first Rangefinder and looking for a little feedback if poss.
The unit I've bought is a Bushnell and it has the pinseeker jolt function where you are supposed to hover over the pin/flag and it locks on and vibrates, then gives you a yardage. I'm sure its probably user error but I'm struggling to get in to lock on to the flag at times as it seems to lock onto other stuff in the background....mainly trees. Anyone else find this and is there a 'knack' to using this function more effectively?
Thanks.

Start to one side of the flag and "scan" it across from one side to the other, I should lock onto the nearest object and buzz. That should be the flag.
It doesn't actually know it's a flag, it buzzes for the nearest object it picks up.

Thanks for the reply.
That sounds kind of like what I was trying to do but I think as I'm pushing and holding the button to move across the flag it's giving me a yardage to whatever is at the side of the flag, is it a case of moving the unit a bit faster across the flag?

Also is it normal to get a discrepancy in readings standing in the same spot...could be me moving around slightly as I push the button I suppose? Its less than a yard discrepancy so not an issue, just something I noticed.

I fail to see the point in rangefinders, most courses have marker post on the T with the distance on them and 150yd markers at the side of the fairway or marker discs for 200/150/100yds down the centre of the fairway (our course has all 3) so if I'm say 20yds short of the 100yd disc then I've got a 120yd shot, commonly known as "simples" innit !...

ps, I watched a chap range the green today from our "15th T" only to drop about 50yds short of the green because the rangefinder couldn't allow for the wind !...:smirk:

Only "simples" if the only distance you want is to the green, also use mine for bunkers or ditches or trees etc, 😜

I have been on plenty of courses that the markers are way out, and it gives an exact yardage wherever the flag is positioned. But each to their own I will stick to my rangefinder though:thup:

Best bit of advice I can give to any rangefinder owner is to keep it easy to access and make it part of your routine. Also laser as soon as you can, rather than wait for your email turn to keep pace up.
