Just a quick question to you busy builders out there.

What would be the difference in price between a solid 3x3 room and a 3x3 conservatory one all the footing had been laid, thanks

If you are talking fresh build, just over a year ago when I had quotes for an extra conservatory with glass roof and dwarf wall and similar sized bricks, blocks and solid roof in a slightly larger size you’re asking there was almost no difference.
What I would say is the glass roof obviously let’s in more light and gives the feeling of larger space within, but on balance I wish I had gone for the bricks, blocks and tiled roof. The issues I have had with the new conservatory haven’t been good, and it’s quite a bit colder during the colder months.

in my limited experience, there is not actually a huge difference in up front cost. I have ripped down our 8x3M conservatory and replacing with a proper extension.

Thinking of doing a 7mx7m side extension ... i have random quotes. We checked with Anglian who said we could go for an 'orangary' (which is more glass than standard build, but less than conservatory).. and it was about 60k. The builder view of a 'proper' extension was also in the same price range..

Had 2 versions down the years. All glass, inc roof, and low wall, tiled roof. All glass got too hot in summer and too cold in winter. Limited use and a waste of money. The second version was done with bi-folding doors. It got used pretty every day.

The second version was a couple of thou more expensive but the version 1 was not worth the effort.
