Buggies (rant alert)

If I had a recurring medical /physical problem that I knew sometimes meant I could only get round the golf course in a buggy, I'd get a doctor's note stating exactly that. I can't see what the issue is with that.

Personally I would have a couple of spare buggies available for serious medical cases only, not overweight people.

Not read through every post but I can see the problem that people have with them. Big problem in the UK is that the courses are not designed buggies in mind. Over here there are cart paths all the way around the course so in very wet conditions there is no need for them to leave the paths.

There are 3 levels of buggy use out here:

Access all areas - drive it anywhere
90 degree rule - Keep to the paths and then you can cut across the fairway when you get level with your ball
Cart path only - No riding across any grassed areas.

On top of that you are not allowed to take them within 20 yards of any putting surface.

If a course does not have cart paths all the way around the course, then anytime it is wet they should be banned. If you cant play without one then it is tough.
