Buggies. Do you play better or worse?

I have just realised that I always seem to play better when using my trolley or carrying.

My game has been a little up and down lately. Low 80's and the odd 70 something or in the 90's

Thinking back on my bad rounds and they have all been in buggies!

Do any of you use both and does your game change?

I can't put my finger on why it makes a difference but clearly it does!

I generally play better, by a fair margin too. Especially in the closing holes where my game usually goes to pieces (if it hasn't already by the mid way point).

Cant stand the devices! I notice that young golfers tend to use them the most.

Not a fan of them at all, just doesnt feel like golf to me, dont get the right flow at all, feel like its all a bit rushed and contrived. Very rarely enjoy playing in a buggy or play well

Re: Buggies. Do you okay better it worse?

Only had the pleasure of using a buggy 3 or 4 times. Don't remember the outcome.

Good idea on long US style courses i.m.o. (and somebody else is paying!) :)

Don't have much choice really. Far too hot to be out in this sun for 5 hours walking round the course. Would prefer to walk but everyone uses buggies out here. Last time on the course it was reading in the mid 30's, coupled with the humidity was really hard work.

I prefer walking. I feel more like a golfer ( deluded, obviously ).

I play ok from a buggy though, and at some courses I have played in Florida, you can't walk, some of the rides between holes take 5 minutes by buggy. Walking would be a 7 hour round!

When you stand over the shot, it makes no difference how you got there.

You also don't have to drive like a lunatic, at break neck speed, just because you can.

Not a fan of them. Detest them to be honest. I can never get a rhythm, never like having to take a handful of clubs and never enjoy my rounds in them

I wouldnt recommend going abroad to play golf then.

Hate golf carts, but I'd go with one of them skate board surf things for golf cos they look cool.

Not keen on using them in UK. Some courses abroad almost insist upon them, they can be handy in heat or with big gaps between green and following tee. I also find they keep the beer cold!

Re: Buggies. Do you okay better it worse?

I tend to play better when walking, and will avoid a buggy wherever possible. However, played several holes this evening for some practice, and really liked having the buggy to get as many holes in as possible.

Not a fan in competitions though.

I just walk alongside a buggy most of the time and use it to get to the tee if i need too.

They can certainly help your game at time by helping you conserve energy

Played in Spain and Portugal with no ill effects. Plenty of water, few snacks and happy days. It's only 18 holes not a route march

They spoil the social part of the game and defeat one of the benefits of getting exercise. Played in a fourball a couple of winters ago with a mate who was waiting for a knee op. He and another had a buggy & had to pack in before the end because of the cold. The two of us who were walking were warm as toast. Essential in a hot climate, mind you, especially at a place like Aphrodite Hills in Cyprus where there is a 1 kilometre gap between two tees up & down around 18 hairpin bends either side of a ravine. Wouldn't like to walk that one!
