Having been away the weekend before last and only visiting 3 bunkers in our 72 hole society bash, can you imagine my horror to visit 7 bunkers in my return to my home course on Saturday. However with 3 up and downs in those 7 visits I was somewhat pleased with my recovery work.

Also managed to reach our SI 1 hole (432 yards up hill) in two shots for the first time, I dont use a driver, so 3 wood, 5 wood. So I had a good day considering.

Thats good recovery work. Have you been practicing or are you just a short game wizard a la Seve.

No practice work I'm afraid, just one of those days. Of the other four bunker shots, two of them gave me a chance which I only just missed, one was two putt territory and unfortunately the other one I left in the bunker.
Of course you could say dont go there in the first place, but I believe since I joined my first golf club in March my bunker play is improving.

As for a la Seve, I'm more of an age to remember Gary Player who was the best bunker player in the world when I was a youngster.

Bunkers annoy me, I played 56 holes over two days recently and for the first 36 seamed to be in a bunker every other hole and never got out first time.

I went into a greenside bunker on hole 1 of the final round and splashed out to a couple of inches having realised I had not been opening the club face enough before.

I didn't hit another bunker after that!!!
