Is it any good? Any problems? My Auntie switched from Sky to BT (I set it up) if was seemless. Anyone else got anything else to add. Reason? I'm going to switch from Virgin to BT.

Well, for me, BT is rubbish which is why I stick with Virgin despite their other shortcomings...

Think it is down to how close you are relevant to the box with a fibre connection...

We moved back to BT Business a couple of years ago. Great after sales service and the fastest available for us (2.8 Mbs) as we live in the sticks and miles away from the exchange which has fewer than 30 lines.
Because BT own the phone lines, BT users have priority over repairs and fault fixing which we need as our copper line is so old and above ground which leads to quite a few problems.

touch wood I have had zero problems since moving to BT a year ago

I had virgin for 2 years in my house

year 1 best broadband ever

year 2 wanted to throw the thing out the window.. only worked every 3 days.. drop outs all time for hours at a time.. so many techs out who couldnt fix it..

was glad to leave

BT Infinity for 4 years now, absolutely no issues. Wouldn’t go with anyone else.

I have found then to be first class.

Like CliveW, we live in a very rural setting and previous suppliers were rubbish.
BT were not much better to start with and my Mrs negotiated a very cheap deal plus a smarthub.

Very happy now.

If you can get fibre to the property then bite their arm off its excellent! Whatever you do dont move house with them and expect them to transfer your services over simply (weve just finally got connected after complaining direct to the CEOs office after nearly 2 weeks of complete and utter incompetence from them).

As for how good it is with fibre to the cabinet I guess we'll find out (now we just need phones with wifi calling to sort out the mobile signal lol)

I'm with Virgin, work from home and never had any major issues, yes the occasional outage, but that is to be expected from any provider. I've a cable connection and 200mg plus Internet connection, for me to switch to Sky or BT would mean dropping to less than 40mg. In the grand scheme of things I wouldn't notice the speed drop.

I like Virgin, but they are getting damn expensive.

I would be tempted to move to Sky or BT, but it's the hassle of swapping that is stopping me.

I don't use the 'net for things that require 100megga dodahs. Virgin have put their bb up to £35 and BT is £30 soooooooooo I'm looking, questioning and they'll be gone! Shame really we've been with them since NTL.

Probably to your nearest green cabinet

They haven't... The fibre will most likely be to your nearest box [cabinet] ...

Exactly this. We had the engineer come to our house as we upgraded to Sky fibre mega speed etc and it was still slow. He pointed out the box at the front of our estate and that is were the fibre cabling stops. After that it goes into every house by 30 yr old aluminium wires apparently. Not even copper!

Suppliers should be stopped from advertising high speed fibre broadband in the way they do now. Apart from the fact you don't get the speeds claimed you don't get fibre delivery all the way. It is misleading.

Been with BT for donkeys years. Found the home hubs and more recently the smart hub to be more than adequate.

Only, thing I noticed the wireless printer sometimes suffers a communication failure and needs rebooting, and my work VPN disconnects unless I make sure laptop is only looking at one of the WIFI channels.

Unless you are after a spectacularly complicated home network you can’t go wrong.

Also free champions league!

No issues here but lots of complaints about virgin from people I know.

I was happy with plusnet before but BT uptime is much better. Sometimes down for 1-3 days on plus net, not lost an hour with BT.
