We have just swapped to booking via BRS - today of all days (ie the first day we can book post-lockdown). Never used the app before, never had any chance to practice?

Have managed to bag a slot but now see that there's a lot a singletons in early slots and would like to change to join up. But can't see any means of doing so? Anyone got any advice on how it's done?

Click on the slot you've booked. Click on your name, it should give you the option to delete. Do this, confirm the booking then put your name in another slot
I can do that, but cant see how to get into the new slot? Or does that not come apparent till I've deleted the my original booking.

But I didn't see any way of signing up with a singleton in the first place - which is why I originally booked a later slot just to make sure i got one?

That's right. You have to delete the original booking first.

Hmmm. I think there's something amiss in our set up somewhere. I cancelled my booking - and even got an email saying cancelled - then went back in, and lo, my original booking was still there in original slot? So still couldnt change.

Ah well, I think someone in the office may some sorting out to do. (Bookings werent in any case supposed to go live till 9:00 today, but the sheet was pretty much full by 7:30.

Clubs can set up the system to suit themselves slightly. As MiB has pointed out, first step is to cancel your original booking. My club, most are the same, will not allow you to book 2 slots on the same day so that explains that.

My own club also does not let a player book onto another persons slot. In the situation you describe I would need to either contact the orignal booker for them to add me or ring the club for them to add me. I don't know why they do this, I disagree with it, but there you go. Your club may also have this enabled. Maybe not but maybe so.

Best of luck.

Do any of you have trouble whereby two mates book in via BRS and then book in two phantom guests to block others from playing thus enabling them to play as a pair. I suspect it happens at our club regularly. Especially early and late slots when no club pro there to monitor.

Can be set up that guest bookings can only be done via the pro shop. No slots allowed to be reserved.

Our club does not have a big membership so whilst this does happen, and is very annoying, it is not a major issue. We don't have a pro, no one to monitor matters as they happen, only after the event. If we had more members, more pressure on tee slots, then it would have to be dealt with. It's a very selfish thing to do.

On a similar theme to the more recent posts ...

Sometimes you're playing a (formal) two ball match, and its not ideal for a third person to sign into your tee time (which is not quite the same as "mate's games") Do the same "blocking" rules apply?

I appreciate its up to the club to choose how it's set up - just interested in what clubs are actually choosing?

Pro or office can blank the other slots with a X to stop folks joining you.

At our place, if you just want to go out as a 2, we have a player on the list called Generic Social Distance and we can add him/her to our booking and nobody will join it.
As we have a limit on the number of rounds per week, until a certain time when any free slots can be booked it has been noticed that some members add GSD to their booking until they are able to add their mate later in the week. If that gets seen then bookings start getting cancelled.

What happens when someone discovers that the phantom guests haven't paid green fees?

Nobody seems to check. I have also witnessed a member who regularly goes out at first light, before the pro shop opens, with two guests. When they finish they all jump in their cars and drive off.
I suppose I should say something but they may pay by card over the phone then I would look a tw@t.

At least you'd know though so could forget about it.

Is it better using the app or the website?

Every time I use the app, when weekend times get released I can never secure a desirable morning slot, they always seem to be blocked out i.e. taken!

And I'm waiting there like a hawk bang on the time when the slots get released! Haha!

Help!?
