So I went along to test the much hyped TM R11s and RBZ (I'm keen for a 3 wood and possibly a new driver)
They only had the R11s in stiff- everything else was regular and a 4 or 5 wood so the RBZ's will have to wait.
So the helpful chap masked up the 10.5* stiff R11s and put me on the monitor (not trackman or flightscope)

Firstly the noise isn't pleasant, hard to describe but if you hit a solid metal bar onto a scaffolding leg I'd imagine the noise would be similar.

The stats however underwhelmed me.........
Length carry went from 224yds to 249yds with a roll out hitting 270 ONCE, the rest all around 240-260 INCL carry. SS 110
Launch all around 14* and spin averaging 2800

This is with the latest tech thats supposed to be very flattering, if thats what I get with it gawd knows what my current old tech is producing

One shaft only apparently..............

so for £335 I'm not overly impressed so far, maybe the RBZ will be better

One shaft only? I thought there was plenty of options.

I can see why the distances are disappointing as spin and launch in the desire range,

This is because TM have failed to roll out their fitting carts and are banking on Joe Public picking up a stock model and relieving themselves of over 300 sheets!

Pretty poor!

The chap told me they had sold 15 this weekend, 12 pre-ordered so hadn't even tried it:eek:

SS 110mph - excellent
Spin - 2800 - excellent
Launch - 14 = too high

Carry 229 - 249 - something gone wrong somehwhere mate. Try a 9 degree cranked down and you should see big improvements.

SS and spin are TV stats mate.

Pretty poor is putting it mildly thanks for the heads up.

hope the C/F can sort you out in the week

Did you adjust the settings at all and did they make any difference. I'm not remotely interested in the R11s at £300+ RRP. I didn't particularly get on with the original R11 and so I'll pass for a while. Definitely interested in the RBZ range but again I'd want t wait for warmer air temperature, the range balls not to have ice on them and for the snow to clear first.

Homer, he adjusted the loft down to 10*, saw a couple of better flights then some high fades, so he wanted to bring the loft down further but when I asked wont that make the actual loft higher he agreed, is the R11s set open anyone? he thought it was neutral

0.5* open innit? That would be usual for a players driver.

I'd have though 1* Open was normal for a 'players' club

must check the TM website, however, I'm looking forward to the Mp650 or Callaway Razr Fit for the driver, RBZ still on my radar for the 3 wood...........
...but I was creaming my callaway 4 wood today after the session so the jury is still out

Just get yourself a nice 910D3 buddy, you don't want Tipex coloured golf equipment!!!

"The suit of clothes is all together
But all together it's all together
The most remarkable suit of clothes that I have ever seen.
These eyes of mine at once determined
The sleeves are velvet, the cape is ermine
The hose are blue and the doublet is a lovely shade of green.
Somebody send for the Queen."

Probably means little to anyone under 60 (old people only Leaney).

I'll try the RBZ first, tried the D3 when they came out and it was fine, just fine and the stats were no better than my Titleist 907 D2 so the Pro said dont change yet, but I might look again if I can get the right shaft for me as the graffalloy prolaunch Red didnt suit me

PX? White Board? Fujikura F3?

Launch, spin and swing speed are all pretty acceptable in my opinion although could potentially be tweaked.

Did you get any readings for your own driver as a comparison? Smash factor seems very low.

wouldnt let me use my own driver unless I was having a fitting............ whats the smash factor and how is it calculated?
The machine had a 'Quality' column for each shot and it was around the 80-87 mark whatever that is

is Smash Factor not a Trackman only stat?

Smash Factor is Ball Speed divided by Swingspeed. Optimum is 1.5, so as near to that as possible. One reason could be the fact that head was taped, reducing effective COR. The Hi COR heads could get smash factor s tad higher than 1.5.
