Broke 80!

After my 2.7 cut the other week having shot an 80 I didn't expect to be knocking on the door so soon but today I only went an scored a 79!

5 over through 9 was followed by par after par after par. A stupid shot into a lake was made up for with a birdie on the 17th leaving me needing a par on the 18th to break the magic number.

My drive was good but a little close to the big oak tree but luckily my swing wasn't impeded. Nice wedge on and 2 putts to get the number I wanted.

All backed up with gamegolf incase I ever want to relive it!

Chuffed to bits.

Breaking 80 is a big thing for most golfers. Chipping away 78, 76......it gets harder more frustrating and more rewarding.

Ha ha cheers James, my eyes are my laser now..... it seems since our round and your tips my game has improved exponentially. Maybe you were the X factor!

Well done mate. I played a few rounds this year knocking on the door (handicap of 17 - but all non-comp rounds) including one round where I had a 5 foot birdie putt on the 18th to shoot it... of course I missed. The worst part was I missed a 2 footer on the 1st for par. That putt haunts me. Had another round where I was on for a par on the 18th to shoot 79... ended up with an 8. Go hard or go home mentality didn't pay off!

Good to know you have a record too. Worth a group photo on the 18th or in the clubhouse too, put that photo on the wall at the office!

Congrats mate, I first broke 80 this year and smashed it with a 77, was the best moment of my golfing career by a long way. Keep chipping away at 75 and youll soon break that too!
