as promised I've added some of the photos.
the reason some are in triples is that I was trying a bracketing setting which takes three shots in sequence simulating different types of film
Nice photos they have really got me in the mood for sunday when I am going. Are there any holes you noticed which will be a good place to view from? I may just stick to my tact of following a group round like I have before.
the 10th is OK, short par 4 (311) slight dog-leg right with water on the right hand side. the green is on the far side of the 'brook'. good opportunities for short pitches.
either behind the 18th (three-tier green with a good slope back toward the lake) or to the righthand side near the landing area of the tee-shot, you get get the side/rear view of the approach to the green.
there are some areas where you can view two or three holes/tees - you get a course plan with the order of play
Looks like another fog delay at the Belfry. I'm glad I went on Thursday - abit cold and cloudy at times but warm when the sun came out. PLay started bang on 7.30. Feel sorry for those who went Friday/Saturday - delays in play are boring for spectators and players alike.
Course was a bit squidgy in places and it looked like they had preffered lies which seemed a little over the top. When I crossed a couple of fairways - admittedly on the crossover points -the real fairways looked ok.
Darren and Monty both underlined why Faldo didn't pick them - if ever there was a time to come out with all guns blazing then this was it and neither of them had a clue to be honest. Sad but they almost looked like they didn't want to be there. The crowds followed them and I feel they were short-changed.
I tended to follow lesser players like Jeev-Milkha Singh. He played a cracker - good to watch. David Howell and Nick Dougherty were good value too.
In the afternoon, G-mac and Mcginley were followed by lee and Monty. Practically all the crowd followed these 2 matches leaving the rest of the course clear for me to watch who I pleased..
i was there on friday big fog delay gave me time to have a good walk around and spending time watching players chip and putt, the golf was great to see and stayed till the hooters went while following jeev, fisher and clarkes group for the last hour as well as seeing jeevs hole in one had a fantastic day
After swearing Iwouldn't overspend this year at the belfry I did exactly that, though i did resist the very overpriced belfry clothing, though was sorely tempted by the Sunderland rain jacket.
Though I did buy an ex-demo Titleist driver for 69 quid, a taylormade woolly hat & course guide from the main shop some sunglasses at 20 quid at the bite stall, some various goodies from another. Then on the last day bought a Daly putter & got the deal of the century on a tour bag of theirs, they even threw in a couple of free hats, cheers Robin & Alan on the Daly stand.
Nearly splurged out on the rather impressive caddyaid golf sat-nav at £299 but decided that I didn't want to pay a monthy subscription, though that was an option anyway.
Okay, I could have gassed out on a lot more but all in all the tented village was actually a bit disapointing with a very limited supply of deals.
I don't recall seeing any deals (except the 20% off some clothing) on the pro-am day. guess they save that for the final day to save packing it all up again.
I bought a hugo boss pullover for £36 instead of £120 because it had a slight mark in 2 places due to being knocked off the hangers or something over the duration of the tournament, it was nearing the end of the day and I said to the girl behind the counter what is the most discount you can give someone and she said 70% without manager authorisation- so I said that will do and ended up buying it. Plus the marks washed out first time
