I gave up on breaking bad halfway through series 2, its just far to slow. And please dont tell me it really picked up in series 3... zzzzz

I am in the middle of BB and I think it is terrific. A snappy main plot but lots of interesting subplots and well written characters.
Watched a few GOT but didn't really get it and gave up.
Dexter isn't as good as BB but still pretty good.

excessive nudity is a valid criticism but either there is less in series 2 and 3 or I became desensitized to it.

Thick rhymes with dick which made the sentence more prosaic and you have not only ruined it but failed to substitute it with a suitably acceptable alternative, rendering the post incomprehensible. Is dick a banned word?
Suitable Alternatives: Is Hodor's John Thomas okay? Whang? Love Truncheon? Purple Python? Beef Whistle? Excalibur? Lap Rocket? Wonder Weasel? Schlong? Thunderbird 3? Fragger would probably do too as that sounds vaguely penile.

Bums and boobies aside, i would honestly argue that any of the violence in Game of thrones is OTT or gratuitous.
When deaths occur, they are grizzly, brutal and sometimes hard to watch. Not because of the gallons of blood on screen, but because they are honest and shocking.
If you want to see what adolescent, contrived, gory violence and sex is really like, watch Spartacus. Its like it was made for 13 year olds
Looking forward to BB but based on my experience GOT is staggeringly good.
Up there with The Wire and Sopranos for me.
I am currently watching Deadwood and i tell you what. Its a stonker, Fantastic television.
Makes you feel the lingering uncertainty of life in the Old West and the characters is brilliant. Ian McShane at his absolute peak

Just finished Breaking Bad, have to say it is fantastic TV.
Have seen GOT too but think BB is better both great tv though.
On a different genre the IT crowd is fantastic comedy writing

Well, interesting and varied responses...
For the record, I have seen all of Breaking Bad and loved it. All of it. Yes, it can be slow but that's the whole point: it's a thing of beauty to be treasured. The finale, and the lead-up to it, was wonderful.
Game Of Thrones: there's been some fierce debate in this thread re its nudity/violence. IMHO that's a curved ball. It's an HBO series so it is going to push the boundaries and from what I can gather the books are far more explicit. If you don't like tits and blood, then don't watch it. Certainly it is a thing of beauty to look at, fantastic sets etc. We are on season 1 episode 2 and will stick it out as any decent series takes its time to reel you in.
Dexter/The Wire/Sopranos et al: lots of polarised opinion and comments on these but surely that's what we should expect? If we all liked the same stuff, life would be dull and this forum would be irrelevant.
Final thoughts: I will give GOT a chance and will watch at least season 1. As for Breaking Bad: if you think it is too slow, then don't watch it. Don't listen to those who say it's great. Plough your own furrow.
