Any of you fine gentleman or ladies played this course? Playing it tomorrow from what i can see looks a nice course but very long and that scares me  as im no big hitter. It will be the first course i have played with water aswell see a few balls taking a swim :D

One of Dave Thomas's finest.

Tough old track, just for players of 4 handicap or less really.
Very well designed holes which are lost on your average handicap club player.

That filled me with whats the word ummm terror :D

Im off up to scotland soon mate staying in Dunoon going to play The machrihanish is that close to you mate?

It's not too long off daily tees and it's pretty fair most of the way round. 13th is awkward as it doesn't have a landing area for the drive if you're short off the tee.

Nice course although it is predominantly corporate there so expect a long afternoon........at least it'll be sunny!!;)

I don't think its tough this time of year. Mid winter off back tees is tough. But daily tees no probs. Hit the right part of fw and green and scores can be low. Have heard their greens aint great at the month due to meadow gress and thatch getting into the usga greens.
Personally I like the course and always score well.

Just to clarify, which Bowood? There are 2, Wiltshire and Cornwall. I'm assuming from your location this is the Wiltshire one?

I live 5 miles away and play it about 5 times a year mostly freebies and a senior's match. Don't be put off as yellows are not too bad. You get lots of strokes so play too them and try not to be greedy. The par fives are great fun and the12th is outstanding but be aware that the green is guarded by two rings of bunkers. Take an extra club or two for the approach. Enjoy.

Yes the wiltshire one

Agree with pretty much all the above, greens have always been pretty good any time I've played it. There are also a few little warm up holes as well which are quite handy if you have time.

I am South of Ayr.

You are at the bottom of two peninsulars on Cowal and Kintyre so I hope you like driving.
Great scenery though especially through Arochar and Cowal.
It's scorchio up hear just now so I hope the weather holds for you.

I have only played Bowood off the medal tees so forget my comments earlier.
