I know it sounds weird, but on both feet I have a bit of bone (I think) that sticks out below my ankle (about an inch lower) on the outside of my foot.

I always assumed everyone had them, but for reasons I'll explain in a sec I asked others in my family to check and some do, some don't.

The reason I wanted to check was because I recently bought new shoes and stupidly wore them for both rounds of a 36 hole competition. They rubbed this extra bony bit on my right foot roar. This doesn't always happen with new shoes; sometimes there's no issue and other times I can't wear them at all.

So I was wondering, do many other people have this, what is it, and has anyone found a good way of stopping new shoes hurting them?

Thanks.

I'm sure this is an affliction mainly suffered by relatively short residents of Leicestershire who watch certain reality tv shows and drive souped up Seats....they are also reputed to be oxygen thrives but that's believed to be a myth. There is also evidence to suggest that they quite like proving they're thick...this, again, is unsubstantiated..

As to your problem....no idea Mate

Maybe if you get your handicap down by 0.1 so you are Cat1 you can hold your head up and walk taller, then the problem might go away?

Not really helping am I?............................

:D

I think the extra bone supports the extra toes.:whistle:

I have bones that stick out on both ankles Gary. Must be a finely tuned athelete thing.;) I always get golf shoes that are cut below the bone. Eccos are perfect. One of the reasons I wear shoes until they fall apart, as it can be difficult to find comfortable replacements.

I tend to wear shoes longer than I should, purely because it's so hard to find comfortable ones.

I've got Lunar 2's now but 1 pair is for the bin and the other isn't far behind.

I've bought some Lunar Waverley and Dryjoy Tours. the Waverley have inflamed my foot so much that the FJ's are now unwearable, but the Lunar 2's are still great.

My 'prominence' is too low to buy anything cut below it. It's about halfway between my ankle and the bottom of my foot.

One of my sons has the same thing, but he had an op on his left ankle and they removed it while they were in there, so just has the right one now.
He's the same as me in that it doesn't bother him at all until something inflames it, then it's agony.

Out of interest I just put the thread title into Google:

The first suggestion that came up is this thread!

In the images part there's even a picture of your Avatar Gary!

Who knows, you might now become the medical standard for this affliction. :)

I tried googling it and all I came up with was bone spurs and a solution of having them removed.

All I can think of is blister plasters.

I take it you are not referring to the normal ankle bones that protrude on the inside and outside of the ankle (medial and lateral malleolus) that everyone should have?

No, it's about an inch below that.

With apologies to anyone thinking of eating (and knowing this isn't likely to end well!), here's a pic...

My ankle is on the left, and the bit of bone (?) in question is the smaller red bit to the right of my ankle.

Everyone has 'em Garry. Maybe not so pronounced... I recommend Dettol and cheese grate to wear it down in a sterile manner.
