Has anyone been to see the new film yet ?

We are hoping to go and see it Saturday.
Was lucky enough to see Queen live at Knebworth in the 80s and looking forward to the film.

I've no doubt HID and I will see it asap. Sadly Queen with Freddie was one of the band's we never got to see back in the day but we have seen them twice in the last year with Adam Lambert

I was there too :D. Utterly fabulous, every concert since failed to live up to that show. Freddie was stunning, he owned the stage. I am hugely excited for the film, the trailer looks to have captured so much.

I'm away this weekend but I'll be going mid week.

I personally love Adam Lambert. He is a fantastic singer and showman but absolutely doesn't try and be Freddie. Just to see Brian May play all the riffs that I grew up with was enough but Adam certainly fits well into the band as it tours

It was brilliant, an amazing day. WE came down from Glasgow by bus overnight, watched the concert and straight back home !

Good support acts in Belouise Some, Big Country and the Quo.

Its my fathers 61st Birthday today, taking him and my mum to see it around 13:00

think im looking forward to it as much as he is!

18-year old Shark went to see it this week and loved it and she has an inherent dislike of all music that I do. So positive vibes there.

It’ll be interesting to see how sympathetically they approach Freddie himself as he really wasn’t the most moral guy that anyone ever met. But what a talent.

What was the basis of the criticism? For me it was well done, obviously some degree of artistic licence but it didn’t make Freddie a saint, seemed to be reasonably historically accurate as I understand it, was very entertaining and got a spontaneous round of applause from a packed house at the end. On that basis I’d thoroughly recommend it.

Not sure yet I haven’t looked for reviews, just heard it mentioned on Radio 5 yesterday. Bad acting was one thing they said.

Just seen it, fantastic. My dad said the casting was spot on and acting brilliant (he obv lived through it all)

I throughly enjoyed it

Only one of the 4 of us who didn’t was the wife. But she’s into hip hop crap so what does she know lol

sorry to be slightly off topic.... I heard in recent days that even though Freddie had a huge overbite he never had it "fixed" as he was scared it would ruin his voice....he had an 8 octave range.

Interesting.

Certainly looks like that from the reviews I've seen
It gets terrible reviews by all accounts, one for the fans by the sounds of it.

Not a huge Queen fan and the mixed reviews have put me off going so I'll wait for netflix or whatever and see it at home. Too many movies get over hyped, here especially if there's a British angle of some kind. Everything from Braveheart to Dunkirk have been overhyped.
Seems Queen's legacy has been overblown/overhyped too since Freddies death. They couldn't break in America and it was Wayne's World use of Bohemian Rhapsody in 91/92 which gained them some late acknowledgement over there. Wasn't until Live Aid in 85 they got that much more notice here but that was just a 20 minute short set and they looked good as come of the other acts on the day were plain awful. They'd been on the go for 15 years by then. A lot of it is very basic rock n roll. A few gems in there of course.
