Joking apart I then did the Mac instead of The Mc and it seems that that name has also been taken. Rotten spoilsports.

It raised a bit of a smile when i read it, but i think 'hilarious' is overstating it a bit - unusual sense of humour to say the least if this gets you into states of hilarity, or at the very least an unusual use of the English language

Can you imagine some of the suggestions you could have got? We've just been laughing like naughty little kids in the office here with suggestions with the most popular name for the cat being Valerie Singleton's pussy.

I mean, forget the elephant dropping its load on the floor, we could have had John Noakes running round live on BBC crying "has anyone seen Val's pussy?"

Yep it started as an on-line poll too and got taken over by giggling Man Utd fans.

On a slightly similar line, when the NFL first announced the return of the London Monarchs in 1995, the first press conference had a league spokesman detailing all the transport, demographic and interest research and suggesting that the team should play at the New Den in Millwall. It was about 10 minutes before anyone British could stop laughing and then someone asked him if he had ever been there. So they went to White Hart Lane instead.

Can you imagine what would happen if one of our political parties copied the boat company and allowed anyone who registered, including supporters of their opponents, to elect the new leader? You'd probably end up with a comedy candidate getting elected........
