Blood!

A text from Madandra earlier in the week made me realise that I had not given blood at all in 2010 which is shocking!!

As such I'm just heading off to give a pint of my finest B+ blood.

How many of you guys donate blood regularly? I have donated blood since I was 20 and think its a really worthwhile cause and would like to urge others to consider it.

Yes, I give blood every time I am eligible, although like yourself Craw, I don't think I've given this year due to picking up illnesses.

Problem with living in the sticks is that I have to wait for them to come to me!!! :)

B+ also.

I have given blood for about 15 years right up till July last year. When i went i was waiting to see a specialist for a possible hernia and I declared this. The nurse came over and basically said we dont want your dirty blood and if you have a camera up you rear dont come back for 12 months. I felt like a piece of meat, like i had been violated. As it turns out i saw the specialist and it was just a torn muscle but after the way i got treated by her it will be along time before they see me again.

Wolf, I appreciate what your saying however some 4 or 5 year old child could desperately need a blood transfusion with your blood type.

The fact that you have given blood regularly in the past means that I'll forgive you on this occasion! ;)

Craw - you know you are right !!!!!!!!!

As i read now what i have typed i guess i should be big enough and ugly enough to get over it.
Its not the person who needs the blood fault that the nurse had all the interpersonal skills of a starving rat

I got the messge she was saying but like comedy its all in the delivery !

Now wheres my phone to make an appointment

Have high blood pressure so don't think they'll want mine.

Couple that with your occupation - Porn Star and its no wonder they don't want your blood! :D

I give blood as often as I can, although that never seems regular enough, as it's 16 weeks between sessions.

Does anyone know if it really does take this long for the body to recover enough between sessions, or is this over compensation, to be super cautious and to cover for people who may not recover as quickly - perhaps the elderly donors?

Oh and as we're doing types O-, which is great for all the people I cna help, but a bit scary if I ever need the stuff!

I'd be interested in doing that, how does it work?

Do they tend to have the same type of locations as blood donation, or do you need to go anywhere special?

.... however some 4 or 5 year old child could desperately need a blood transfusion with your blood type.

Or a 37 year old woman (Mrs Mad) who needed 2 pints due to the local NHS causing internal bleeding when they fecked up a biopsy.

Scary times and am off to Chapelhall to donate today. I donate 2-3 times a year and because of that I have been uting off a new tattoo coz donating is more important than getting a permanent scribble on my arm.

I give regularly and as often as I can. :)

Used to give the plasma/platelets by apheresis, firstly single arm then double arm. Allegedly, I have a really high platelet count. Technology changes and the double arm procedure no longer exists as it is all done through one arm but two tubes now.

Just for the record, O neg. Universal donor but can only receive O neg back

Thanks Craw, that's the kick up the arse I needed. I gave for about 12 years but stopped without any real reason. I will definitely start again in January.

Got a call from them last evening, stocks are low as usual and like Mizzunogreyhound I'm O neg. I have to wait a few months though as I'd had another tattoo plus I had to have a colonoscopy earlier in the year. Both 'time expire' about the same time.

still I've got over a 100 in the bank.
