Blackmoor part 2

Sev112 (Steve) - please confirm

Paul - i'd like to confirm
But, having played BL somewhere between half a dozen and a dozen times, i'll give up that place for those travelling if anyone wants to take it.

(On the basis that your or Ethan get me a round sometiem soon - i cycled up the public bridleway next to the 14th this evening and the course seriously looked the best i have ever seen it)

As i said to Mrs sev112 when i got back, i will keep buying my lottery tickets until i can afford my own membership :))

P.S. Picked up a hit once Srixon with the BL logo on from VERY out of bounds up there as well :)

Thanks Sev112 - will put you down - and a generous gesture from you and Homer. But in the interest of sorting the Sunday out for everyone, let's give it a few days and then close things off so organisers, locals and travellers all know where they stand.

You are welcome to come and have a game whenever you like (although I don't like the sound of your form off 11 from your post about the pairs final!!) - just give me a nudge

Paul - same as Sev and Homer; if there are others travelling from further afield that want a game on the Sunday before Blackmoor then please feel free to put them before me.

Thanks Paul - that makes 8 (full house) but as has been mentioned, we can change if people are travelling long distance - although there are spaces with Anthony, I think?

Paul - that's a really good blog
Pictures are very good

God knows that makes the first hole interesting , but i guess (hope?) that they are only the Black tees going back there ?

It is only the blacks - then whites go where blacks were. I stood on it on the weekend and it is a different hole - seems very long and a bit intimidating - also it makes it more half moon shaped rather than straightish - and the new bunker on the left, after the existing one at about 270-280 (I think) will be quite intruding! I would not want to play it with the wind blowing strongly.

Can you all pleae reply or PM me your full name, handicap and club to help speed things up

Played off the new first tee today in club champs (418 yards), wind in face, very scary - very few people got on the green in 2 as it plays long into wind as you land on an up slope! When I left (2 thirds in), only 2 players were in the 70s and they are both ex tour pros. A tough day but easiest greens I have played in Club Champs due to so much rain recently (and today) - didn't help me because every time I had a wedge in my hand it cost me extra shots - on an early start for tomorrow's second round!

Looking forward to next week and hopefully a better score than today!! Last year, 98, 98. Day 1 this year....98 (49, 49). Always got to see the bright side - nothing more than an 8 on the card - although I didn't expect the first of them at the first hole when I was 10 yards short of the green in 2!!!!! :(

Could someone who knows the area give me a good route to get from Bearwood Lakes to Liphook please. It looks like a load of smaller roads but i'm sure there will be specific roads to take and miss , although it will be late on Sunday night.

Cheers JD

I think there's a few playing Bearwood that are staying in Liphook at the Travelodge Jammy, you should be able to follow them worst case. I'm banking on Steve knowing the route from Camberley to Liphook!

Hopefully Paul will come on and give you directions. I managed to get totally lost when i played there, and i used to live nearby. :(

Not the easiest route - I would suggest printing off a few pages from Mr Google. This would be my route:
Right out of club for 3/4 mile
Right at mini roundabout into Barkham Road for circa 1/2 mile
Left at roundabout (Bull at Barkham pub) for about 1.5 miles into Finchampstead - might be a mini roundabout to cross - wait to you hit Finchampstead Road (B3016) and turn right - only a few hundred yards and turn left on Nine Mile Ride for about 1 mile
At roundabout turn Right on A321 towards Sandhurst. THIS IS THE HARD WORK DONE
Carry on through Little Sandhurst and towards Camberley - you need a right at the junction in Sandhurst (pub & Travelodge-type hotel on left) - then pass big Marks/Tecso. At big roundabout, go straight across the A30 towards M3 on A331 to Farnham
At Farnham - either take A287 to Hindhead and then take a right on A3 - or take A325 (the road that passes Bordon, where Blackmoor is) and then hang a left on the A3. Liphook not far on A3!
Good luck

PS - Farnham can be a bit like the Bermuda triangle - so go careful and be safe!!

Hey it's not as bad as those roads around Bearwood ! I even got lost trying to get out of the golf club. The 287 Farnham to Hindhead takes you past my road, so could someone point Bob and Jan in that direction. ;) There is a great Indian at Churt, before you get to Hindhead if any one is hungry.

Grew up in Redcar (North East)

Keep dreaming Jon! :)

Ye olde Sat Nav was my only option other than mass convoy from travelodge.
We should be fine.... :o
