I had high hopes for today, and although my final score wasn't 100% satisfying (should have been a PB), I did manage to break my birdie drought.
Normally, I play a sort of zombie-bogey-golf, in fact I think I've returned a lot of cards over the years with 16 pars and/or bogeys, maybe even the odd game with all being only those two scores on all the holes.
Today, something was definitely different.
Anyway, to cut to the chase (and not bore with an "all" 18 hole-by-hole account) I birdied the 4th to get back to level gross, birdied the 7th (par 5) almost pin high in 2 (very close to chip-in eagle). Kicked off the back 9 par, bogey (after hitting the pin?!), bogey. Then birdie/birdie back to back. Had a putt for a third consecutive one, but it was a long shot.
4 birdies in one round, not only ending the drought but matching my personal tally of ALL TIME.
Sadly, I hit a ball completely off the course on the 5th (for a triple) and messed up the last, landing in the trees and hacking out straight across the fairway into a lake..
(for a double)
Good game, enjoyed the weather and for once, I stole slhindmarsh's gift for making putts even if for one game only.
