A big thanks to Euan (golfcitydewller) for the game on the Old Course at St Andrews this afternoon. The course was in superb condition as you would expect.

It was a nice crisp clear day in the North East of Scotland today with the wind in our faces on the opening loop although not to strong it still made a big difference, the wind then died down from the 12th onward to the home hole.

What can i say about a course that has been reviewed so many times, althought i've walked round it hundreds of times this was the first time i've played. Standing on the first i was cacking it i'll admit that but got a decent drive away, the rest is a blur as it went in that quick.
I played well knocking it round in 80 ,Euan i think was round in 73 a great guy to play with and a really great solid golfer who is now installed as favourite for the Machrihanish (haha). One bad swing nearly cost me on 18 a big hook nearly went out of bounds, what a minter that would have been, got away with it and made 5.

Cheers again Euan for the game you guys who are playing it next year will really enjoy it i can tell you that for nowt.

cheers steve
yea it was a pleasure havin u over for a game ...u played very well and 80 with a 6 and 7 on ur card showed how well u played ..a 4 on 17th with a flop shot over the road hole bunker showed what a class act u are ..11 ma a-se !!! anyway we had a good day and a halfed game seemed a fair result ..looking forward to a return match at scotsgraig ...
well done again ...euan ;)

Sounds like you had a great day Steve and you must have played some golf to shoot 80 on your first time round there and obviously Euan as well to shoot 73.

As mentioned earlier on the other thread im booked for next May and already looking forward to it and as richart says, already dreading the opening tee shot.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it and that you highly recommend it.

Smange it was better than i expected even better to play with Euan who is a member and new all the lines of the tee's which is a great help to enjoy it properly. When are you here and for how long ? if your here for a few days more than welcome to a game at my place which ain't far from St Andrews.

Smage, I would take Steve up on his offer as Scotscraig is an awesome golf course with simply fantastic greens, make the effort and time to play it if you can.

I also have to agree with Steve about Euan, he's a bloody good golfer, very very steady.

Thanks for the offer Steve, we may well take you up on it depending how long we are over for. Will see the other 2 guys this weekend and can start planning what we gonna do.

I'm originally from Dunfermline so have an idea about the area and know your place isn't too far away.

Any recommendations for B&B in St Andrews area, doesn't need to be too fancy. Its only for sleeping off the beers ;)

Not sure mate ,PM Euan golfcitydweller he'll keep you right ,there's always the caravan park at Kinell which is at the back end of St Andrews, think Dodger stayed there during The Open.
