Hasn't had a good year - only $700k on PGA and 360k on Euro Tour. He is, of course, the defending Champion of this event, so maybe not such a bad selection.
But indeed, an 'after season' event and more something to feed the demands of Golf watchers than anything else.

Just the same as this year, one of the major champs didnt compete. Think it was possibly Rory that didnt show last year.
Kind of makes sense to make Padraig first reserve as he stepped in last year and nicked the title. I do agree that it is really a non-event and just a bit of a jamboree and sponsor cash cow
