Yesterday played my mate who i aint played for ages!

Stuggled all day hit crap shots etc..

1 down / even / 1 down all day! - couldnt get going

Managed to level the match on 16

17th a long down hill par 4 with a huge dip in front of the green! hit a 5 iron lay up caught it sweet as it run for ever! just off the fairway but it was sat up lovely, hit a wedge with a bout 130 to go OH MY GOD! never felt the ball leave the face! It was all over the flag in flight! one bounce bump straight in the HOLE!

Then won the 18th and the £10 - What aday!!

However after the excitment had finished i was wondering why i never hit these shots in medal / society event?

Either way my greatest golfing moment! iv had many eagles before all been on short par 4s / par 5s! but never from 130 yards sound!

As tiger would put it certainly a fist pump moment!!

Thankyou!

Yes that was another point i wish i could have made it on a short par 3!!

Golf is a wiered game! Busy with uni and work stuff not been playing hardly and was considering packing up etc etc... then that little peach!

Not likely am i packing up! i carnt wait to go out try do it again!

Never ever give the game up.

I did it twice, once around your age ( Mrs CH No1 ), and again with Mrs CH No 2.

Even if you have to cut down, make it a rule of your life that you never get rid of it.

I can promise you (absolute 100% guarantee ) that when you look back on it from this end ( Mid[ish] 40s ) you'll be grateful you kept with it.

Rant over

Never had such a moment, but congratulations on yours. ;)

In fact, I can only remember one occasion, from about 160 yards out, when I made absolutely perfect contact with my 6I...and carried about 20 yards right over the green!! It was such a different feel to my usual shots that my initial reaction was concern I'd mis-hit it. :D

Tim, I thought you best shot was the one at Wickham, a par 3, cracking tee shot, bang on the green but you hit the 2nd green instead of the 12th mate. :) :) :)

Don't think it is my best moment ever but slam dunked a bunker shot for a 2 on a par 3 last season in a bounce game - nice feeling!

not sure if it's my best moment ever, but it was my first birdie and it came in similar circumstances to your shot above...

I had only been playing for a couple of months and found myself in the middle of the fairway after two shots of the 18th par 4 after i duffed my 2nd shot. I needed to hole it to break 100 for the first time ever. I was just over 100 yards out and instead of trying to cream a wedge i clipped a 7 iron and it bounced once just off the green and then rolled slowly towards the hole and straight in.... couldn't believe it at the time and it's a shot i'll never forget.

There's no better feeling than a well struck shot is there.

I have never holed out anything longer than a short chip but I've hit a hole load of Wedges and short irons (and drives come to think of it) that I just knew were going close the moment I hit them. I could get addicted to that feeling. My problem is, if I hit what I consider to be a perfect shot I tend to say it out load while the ball is still in the air. I'll say things like "perfect" or, "that's a fcuking great shot" the moment the ball leaves the club face. Once, playing a foresome I hit a 5 iron from 180 yds and the moment it left the club I said to my mate, "birdie putt, about 6 feet" and that's just where it landed. I don't mean to do it, it sounds really cocky which isn't me but I can't help it, I think I have some kind of golf shot terrets(sp?)

I cant decide if it was the first time I beat Imurg, or the second time I beat him.

First one was a watershed,
Second was a whitewash, so no shouts of fluke

I have decided that the best one will be the third one :D

Actually it will be more satisfying to beat him from a lower handicap as him giving me 16 shots is enough to make a grown Imurg cry.

Have told this one before but playing against the old asst pro at our place in match play, we were going down the 13th par 5. He hit a mahoosive drive and then hit the green with a hbrid leaving him an 8footer for his eagle.

I hit a half decent drive but layed up to 130. Wind in face I hit an 8 and it felt thin, looked down in discust and when I looked back up the 3 old geezers on the 14th tee were pointing at hole and clapping!

Paul made his birdie and still lost the hole! Was very special.

Eagles, however easy they come are always good fun. The 8th at ours is only 270, I can occasionly get one on the dance floor and have made a couple of the putts for 2.

I think winning any honours board event is pretty special and been lucky to do it a few times. Shot wise I enjoyed holing out from 142 yards during the Longest Day Challenge for an eagle. One shot that I still enjoy thinking about was at the 3rd at Leatherhead last year. Dog leg left and I'm on the left blocked out by the trees. 192 left and I said I'd aim it 30 yards right ad hit a big running hook. Executed it perfectly and it ran between the bunkers guarding the left and right of the green to about 20 feet. I felt even more smug than normal!

Would like to think the greatest moment is still to come.
However best moment to date was a birdie on the 10th at Valderrama. Second shot to the green hit the front of the green but rolled back off the green and down the hill to leave a 50 yd pitch. Hit the pitch and the ball ended up the hole. Unfortunately never saw the ball go into the hole.

When I was 14 this lad stole my very expensive bike wheels. I knew it was him as my mate was his cousin and had told me. Not long after I saw him on the golf course. He was playing up behind me. When on the 2nd tee his erm 6 iron I'd say was pushed right and ended up just near us. As they walked up to the green I kicked his ball into the trees. He must have seen me because he asked most impolitely what I was playing at. I punched him square in the nose, droppin him like a sack of something or other.

The following night he knocked on my door to return my wheels.

That was my best ever golfing moment.

His playing partner was his father. He came rushing over with club in hand ready to take me out. My partner also withdrew his driver from his bag and there was a bit of a stand off. Once the clubs had been put down he escorted me from the course.

He was a respected member of the club. His son and up and coming star (still a thief though).

I ended up getting banned from the course which I thought was a bit unfair given his father obviously found out why I'd done it and made him return my property.

Not sure if its my best moment but a good one came last year in a match. I was off 10 and my opponent 6 and it was just one of those nights where we both played well (I was 5 over and he was 2over par) and the lead changed hands on numerous occasions and it got to the 18th with the game level. We both hit good drives and he put his 2nd onto the top of the green with about a 15footer for birdie, I pushed mine into the trees short of the green, all I could do was chip to the front of the green and leave myself about a 40ft putt for par across the slope, needless to say I nailed into the middle and my opponent dollyed his first putt and missed a 2footer to half the match. It was just a fantastic finish to a really good competitive game.
