I would question the answer if they said yes and ask have they played many Links golf courses![]()
I am disregarding this as a piss take.
People cannot seriously be this stupid can they?
Mind you.....

seriously at a loss as to why you think it isn't a Links????
Enlighten me.
It is like saying Glenbervie is Heathland.

Glenbervie is 100% parkland & in great condition at the moment thanks, Goswick well I just never got the feeling that it was a true Links course a few hole yes but the majority well they were just bland an seemed to be well just golf holes with no real links feeling about them. You obviously like it so each to their own but will never rate in my view a bit like The Glen sand based on some holes but not Links.
I asked you why you thought it wasn't Links and frankly your answer is strange....it is Links golf no matter what your 'feelings' of it were.
Thanks for clearing that up,we got there eventually.

Certainly felt linksy, if a little dull, to me. Blandness, with surprises/challenges, is one of the attributes of many great links holes.
Obviously, the key is to define Links. And once you do, try checking whether this year's Open venue qualifies - or any/most of the supposed links courses of Fife/West Lothian!
Indeed, neither Leven, nor Lundin would now qualify as 'true links' in some folks's definitions of Links.
I don't believe The Glen ever claimed to be a links course btw!
Oh, and Glenbervie is currently due to wet conditions, so your 'condition report' might well be out of date.
Given that The Open has to be on a links course and has to have other courses nearby, for LFQ, and access and plentiful accommodation nearby, it's not surprising that the likes of Dornoch and Macrahanish are not on the circuit.
Interesting link to this thread and the one where the guy from London was having a moan about the distance he had to travel to spectate at The Open.
Some of the courses nominated from England are just laughable as an Open venue. They would not even be good enough for qualifing.

Can I ask when was the last time you played Glenbervie ?
Yes a little wet after the last few days rain but so will all parkland courses......
Both Leven and Lundin have been qualifying courses, Leven is still regarded as a true rugged Links course and holds the Oldest Amateur Championship in the world and has been won by many a now Pro golfer including Leee Westwood.
Not a True Links course you make me laugh.
