This is so cool.

How much clearance does someone need in their gargage to be able to swing a club freely?

I believe you need about 10ft.. My garage is about 8ft tall, so cant really swing freely. However I am able to 'punch' a 4 iron or hit a 3/4th swing. Can easily chip or pitch. My son on the other hand wont have any issues for another 10 years. we have a planning application to raise the roof of the garage, but at my skill level, the cost of raising the roof is not worth the money at the moment.

Wow, this looks so nice to him. He probably likes it much as his practice room. Even it made with just small pennies.
How long has he been playing golf so far? Seems he enjoys it.

He started some group lessons during his holidays about a year ago, but has had 6 lessons since then.

We have now had the setup for about a month.. so what have we been upto..

1) Added a spare strip of old carpet between the driving mat & the net. Now the balls falling off the net dont bounce off the floor.
2) Kiddo loves it, and I have seen him disappear into the garage a few times in the day to go and hit a few balls.
3) We have started using it to shoot nerf guns, footballs etc.
4) I had to open the net up to cover the ceiling as the boy is learning to use his SW and starting to hit the ceiling.

I think it gives valuable practice. I agree that it is not perfect and somedays he may be practicing wrong things, but we have some rules around where the ball should hit e.g. not hit the side nets, hit the Angry bird target etc. He has also has had some lessons during his summer hols and the pro is much happier.

This week i was with him on the range and he managed to land the ball between the 75y and 100y markers. I filmed one of them. https://youtu.be/j4JTpbcxg_E

PS: The very next ball after this 100y drive was shanked onto the side and it ricocheted back towards me :) All part of the fun...

That's a cracking little swing he's got there. You can defiantly see the garage practice paying off. Top work:thup:
