Hi guys

Just thought I'd you a quick update on my life as a tour pro!

Been fitted for my clubs which will be meeting me for the first time at West Hill on Thursday.
I'll get a good bit of practise with them that day while getting to grips with the course. I'm sure they'll be silky smooth from the work go! If not though, me and the coach will iron out any faults before the event proper begins.

Fitting info can be supplied if needed but I know you lot aren't interested in the techy bits.

Looking forward to the couple of days later this week and will be sure to get some pics and updates for you all.

Went down to American Golf or the fitting as timewas getting a little short before the event. Good thing though as I was fitted by Ben one of the Pros there and had met him before.

We had a look at the Benross range and decided that with my current irons, preference of clubs and previous specs that we would be looking at the Rip Speed range.

We hit a few with a club similar to my current irons which was an MP69 6 iron and then hit a few with a Benross 6 iron.

The club head speed were pretty much exactly the same (97mph) but the benross 6 iron ramped up the ball speed by 10mph on average to (144 mph), needless to say th AG fitting machine saw my 6 iron carry improve from the 205 - 213 range up to 220 - 238 but it will be interesting to see what on course results we can get.
The lofts of this range are slightly tweaked compared to a tradional bladed type set but not more so than an average set of irons.

The Driver looked great but as I didn't have my driver in tow then there was nothing to compare it to on the day.
Swinging a little slower (127 - 130mph) than the last time I was clocked and the ball was launching a little high but the feel/noise was pretty good overall.

The specs of the clubs coming are as follows:-

Driver - Rip Speed (10deg) Stiff 70 gram ATX shaft tipped 2 inches
3w -Rip Speed (15) Stiff 70 gram ATX shaft tipped 1.5 inches
Hybirds - 17 + 20 Stiff 80 gram ATX shaft tipped

Irons 4 - PW - Rip Speed Tour DG X100

Zip It Chrome wegdes - 52 and 60

Putter - Casino Diplomat 34"

Looking forward to see how they play.

WOW... is the 97mph swing speed ? that is seriously fast and i would imagine that a tour pro dont even swing that fast. i think 120mph with a driver is luke donalds swing speed.

glad you enjoyed it and im very jealous ;)
good luck for thursday

Luke Donald is more like 110-112 mph with the driver. 120 is closer to Rory.

proper clubs, no more of this mp blade nonsense and hybrids too  welcome to 30+ golf.

seriously, good numbers, I'm amazed they had a shaft that could cope

I'm taking my 2 and 3 iron down just in case I can't get on with these hybird things. The figures from those was getting a bit scary though! Just felt dirty after so I went for a long shower. These things are worse than belly putters!

I hit a par 5 green from 245 yards with my 20 degree hybrid the other day... They are like drivers when you catch them right
