The couple could not give evidence as it was tainted by their selling their story to the Sun. That meant that the result was inevitable as neither side had enough corroboration to meet the burden of proof. CPS shoukd have dropped it as soon as that was obvious.

should the Sun be publishing thing that are in an ongoing trial.
they and their lawyers should be taken to task for this!

I believe the gay couple have thanked him for his actions defending them against homophobic abuse and they apologised for all the trouble he has gone through after sticking up for them

Didn't they initially complain to the police about him, then change their story when The Sun threw a few pennies their way?
And both Defence and Prosecution had access to them, neither used them as they were a liability.

This whole court case was a giant waste of time and money.

Tit for tat arguments on both sides, which they surely knew there would be before bringing it to court. Not condoning what anyone did that night, but it was a bad decision to run with this.

From what was said in court it was the wrong charge that was brought, the judge refused to let the incompetent CPS change it.
The correct charge may of seen a different outcome.

Anybody any idea how much the trial cost?

Also how much were the 2 guys paid by The Sun?

Does it matter? This is just one case, and at any given time, there will be 1000s on the go, a lot of which will be a waste of time and money too.

And that is without mentioning inquiries, such as bloody Sunday that have been going on for decades.

Looks like we can move on to talking about Danny Cipriani now. He just never seems to learn l, spent years fighting to get back in the England team then goes and throws it all away again

I think he’s buggered this time, that’s some list of charges and he’s been remanded also, first appearance not until next Thursday I believe so he’ll have over a week in jail 😳

2K fine plus victim charge... Seems 'justice' can be dispensed quickly when allowed... Pleading guilty helps I suppose...

Actually think that part of this is social media hype. The offences did sound bad last night but hearing the details this morning, he grabbed for a bouncer's jacket cam as he had an issue with being filmed (with his rep with booze hardly surprising). The resisting arrest part seems to be the most serious element but that was dropped. An unpleasant situation and totally idiotic but nowhere near the litany of heinous offences that this was being put across as last night.

I can understand folk, in the public eye, being wary of just about everything being on camera these days... Look at the hype when 'arry ran over his missus foot... Seemed the whole worlds press was outside his gaff wanting updates...

Have to agree. Not sure that there are any laws governing the use of security or jacket cam footage. Should be laws about being able to sell it to the press because you can almost guarantee that a security guard who had footage of Cipriani after a few beers would be on to the press straight away to sell it. Should only be able to use it in police proceedings or in response to complaints made against the venue or its staff.
