Hi Phil

Played there last year in the Ulster Cup so had a practice round and the match itself.

One thing to keep in mind when playing is that there is a lot more room on the fairways than it looks from the teebox so it takes a real bad drive to put you in trouble. The bunkers are probably the best ive ever played out of and I should know as I was in plenty of them. Couple of great holes and the Par 3 16th was my favourite.

All in all a good track which will be in great condition and the food in the clubhouse is superb.

You will enjoy playing there :)

thanks for the reply,

yeah really looking forward to it, was chatting to a fella yesterday who plays almost all his golf there and he says that come the end of June the course will be at its peak condition,

he also mentioned that you have to be carefully on the 18th green, anything past the pin wont stop? ive never even seen the course but I hope I don’t make a fool of myself.

Cant comment on the 18th green as never putted on it, chipped into the hole in my practice round and won my match on the 17th with a great up and down from the bunker :D

Just go out and enjoy it, it is definately a good track and well worth playing, just try and avoid the three million bunkers and you will be ok :D

I love Belvoir, in fact Im playing it on the 23rd may (society day if any of you fancy it?)
The fairways just roll on and on and are always perfectly manicured.
The 18th hole has more worries than the green Phil, keep your drive out left to give yourself a look in as you can block yourself on the corner.

The first is a great hole, driveable by the longer guys and plenty of room left (barring a couple of trees), the second is cool too, hitting down onto a fairway that is a bit of an optical illusion, it seems quite tight until you are walking down it. 3rd is a horrible hole that needs a drive up the right, the green was killed a load of years ago and is still recovering in my opinion, the 4th is a brilliant par 3, anything from an 8 to a 3 iron depending on wind, completely guarded by bunkers and a sloping back to front green.

I really could go on..... It is a lovely place to play and you wouldnt know you were 5-10 mins from the centre of belfast.

sounds fantastic, quite the step up from castlereagh hills then!

and ive stood at the first tee box and thought "if i was a good driver id fancy that" but i was watching some other tee off,

and soon realised as they scuffed their drives all over the show that for me like them the thought still involves a fundemental IF.
