Hi guys, I'm sure a few of you must be signed up to the Direct Golf newsletter. I have just had an email saying £99 for 36 holes and a 1 night stay at the Belfry. This seems to be an amazing price, but was thinking there must be a catch? The only thing I can see if that it has to be Sunday-Thursday so no weekends but that's fine. Anyone have any other info?

Thanks.

That seems odd as when I first checked it said it was the Brabazon and Derby, but then the link Bob has given says PGA and Derby. Anyone played these? And is this deal worth doing?

The brabazon is Soooooooooooo over rated its unbelievable and is always in average nick when i have played it. It trades on its reputation not its quality - they charge you top dollar just becuase tigger and his mates have walked around it.
Never played the derby so i can't comment but the PGA is best one of the 3 (by a mile i would say)

Dinner, bed and breakfast and 2 rounds of golf for £99 - I would say go for it.....as long as you don't mind sharing a room, and it could be a double

I would say its worth it, played all 3 courses last year March time & thought a lot of the Brabazon & found it in good condition with very quick greens (there also seemed to be a hazard in range for most shots), the PGA is good as well but I felt it got a bit bland towards the end, the Derby is a lot easier than the other 2 & clearly not as well maintained but was good fun after 2 nights on the beers.

£99 for 36 holes & a night in the hotel is a good price no matter which courses you play.

I know its not the popular opinion but all 8 of us who went thought the Brabazon was a cracking course & the history just added to that (still wouldn't pay full whack for it though).

Don't mind sharing, would probably be me and my dad anyway. Would try and get 4 of us to go, probably myself, dad and 2 uncles so sharing even if it is a double wouldnt be an issue.

Think I may have a look for into this.

I've played all three.

The Brabazon is a very good course and, as mentioned above, the history that goes with it makes it all the more pleasurable. It was in good condition each time I played it and the greens were lightning.

The PGA starts okay but in the middle it's very back and forth with very little to distinguish one hole from another. Towards the end there are a few different holes but a couple of them seem contrived somehow. If you're not a long hitter the PGA can be a slog, the fairways are narrow so accuracy is a must. And the rough was too deep when I last played! As you can probably guess, the PGA is my least favourite of the three but is still a good course.

The Derby is very under-rated. In recent years the greens have been improved dramatically and aren't that far behind the PGA. It's not a long course but I find it a much more enjoyable experience than the PGA.

I'm another who enjoyed playing the Brabazon but wouldn't call it a must play. There are much better top end courses (Bearwood, Woodhall Spa) etc that give you a better golfing challenge. The PGA is like beige, not inoffensive but dull and I didn't like the Derby.

Been a few times now and i like the place ...apart from the bar prices !!!!

Overall I prefer the PGA but the best few holes are on the Brabazon,

Played the PGA twice and the Derby once but not the Brabazon.
I actually quite like the PGA, apart from the amount of sand!
The Deby is a nice little course. Not too taxing but quite good fun.
I'd like to play the Brabazon sometime just to see why some like it and some don't!

Played them a couple of times each, and back there at the end of march for a boys trip. Paid £245 for 2 nights d,b&b with a round on each, playing a weekend. I reckon it's decent value?

I played the Brabazon in the middle of last summer and it was fantastic to be fair. The condition of the course was superb and the greens like glass. A true pleasure to play on.

Can't comment for any previous years as it was the only time I've played the Brabazon, but the times I've played the PGA it was excellent too.
