When a chance comes along that really lights your fire, you should make every effort to take that opportunity. You only have one life fill with regrets or memories, Hmmmm what should I choose??
I understand circumstances can sometimes dictate what we all do, I fancied the Goswick meet very much but I was held back by another memory stored, Im so pleased I stored a memory in the goswick space and not a regret. :D

Just awaiting bonus result in May, holiday is end of May so have to save for that first then hopefully the places won't be filled.

But your'e right HNJ I really really don't want to miss it!

Thanks Andy for the offer. No decision made yet.

Train could be do-able, can't get an August price yet but equivalent week days in May were quoted at £34 rtn from Perth to Sutton Coldfield which is cheap and train finishes close to The Belfry. Much less chance of losing clubs too by train plus airports are stressful places these days. Only issue was the train changes were very tight, any slight delay and the connection would be lost.

Leaving the car behind has some appeal - relaxing and beveraging friendly!

Up in the air at the moment, need to consider things fully.

Hapless, I think in the current climate most people need to be very careful even if they currently are in a comfortable position. It is wise to er on the side of caution where expense is concerned. Though the desision is certainly easier when we definitly know we don't have the funds.

Sorry

£480 for 2 rounds of golf, thanks but no thanks. Even the Belfry aint worth that sort of money.

Hapless I think you should remember that Mono is a kid of 15 who like it or not would have to either bring a guardian along or get someone to look after him. What would he do of an evening if everyone else is out on the lash????
THINK ABOUT IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If he changes his mind it is HIS prorogative.

Wow. That rattled a few cages. Good grief.

When I was that age (and younger) I was doing Cowes weeks with my old man. No problem with the rest of the crew all being adults and drinking etc. It was one of the few things my father did with me due to his overseas work commitments.

If Mono really wanted to go, then I'm sure a supportive guardian, parent or other adult would go with him. Either as a participent (perhaps room sharing), or as a spectator.

If he were my son earning £300 pw, and it would appear that he can pay his own way, though regardless of that, I'd want to go and see him play at such a course. Especially given what a talent he evidently is at the game. It wouldn't matter whether I, as a father, liked golf or not.

My original post, though slightly tongue-in-cheek, was not meant to be inflamitory. So it surprised me to see the usual 'supporters' out in force quite so eagerly.

Perhaps not.

Consider myself flamed!!

I'm pretty certain I'm going to be a no-show.

Am a bit gutted as I was really looking forward to it but after getting the reservation form by e-mail I realised I can't really afford the £195 this month as I'm saving every penny for our annual golf trip to Nairn in May. If I could pay in June or July then it would be a goer but I'm pretty sure it'll be fully booked by then, especially once it hits the magazine on 1st May.

I have stayed and played at the Belfry before (over 20 years ago) and would love to meet up with more of the guys on here...but it's just a bridge too far this time I think.
