This is a question for anyone who's had a custom fit session at The Belfry.

I remember reading that it costs £50, but you get a voucher for the shop to that value.

Is the voucher just for clubs, or could I go and have a cf session and walk out of the shop with £50 worth of balls or clothes etc?

Do you get the voucher on the day or do they post it?

Just thinking there's no way I'm paying Titleists £40 charge when you get nothing but info for it.
Might as well pay £50 and get something for it.

Thank you.

I had a fitting in Oct last year and they either charged you for the fitting or took it off the price of the clubs.

I believe you get a shop voucher. Probably on the day.

Can you not get fitted for your driver by a local fitting centre - they may not charge if you buy from them?
I know you're reasonably close but there should be a Custom Fit centre somewhere nearby..

The problem I have is that I need to buy it from my pro because it will mostly be shop credit. If I had to use money it would be a non-starter.

Thinking back on it, when I asked him if he could book me in for a fitting he tried to book me in with him for the fitting. I can understand why now we've learnt that it's £40! Makes his job giving me a good price very difficult.

The trouble he doesn't stock Titleist clubs, so it would have been hit a few with my driver, hit a few with a couple of i15's he has in, then guess at the right shaft for the Titleist from that. Not very scientific imo.

he can't be the only pro in the area that does fittings if you want to go that route, though not knowing them does make it more difficult.

Isn't the £40 at Titleist deducted if you buy from them?
If I go the AP2 route I had planned to go to St Ives, now I might go to the Belfry instead.

I went for a fitting at the Belfry last year. The £50 is credited to an account for you set up in the pro shop. The fitters do not push to buy from them as they know that they are not the cheapest option. I saved £100 buying the recommended spec driver elsewhere and bought a wedge with the store credit.

No. The fitting has to be booked by your pro, and they get charged the £40 regardless.
It means it eats into their profits if they swallow it, and you're not going to get as good a deal on the club.

That sounds like a good idea to me.
I fancy an MP Fli-Hi 2 iron, so could buy that from the shop and get my pro to order the driver.
Might not end up with Titleist if say an R9 performs better. I'm sure Titleist can stand the loss.

As an aside, I rang my pro this lunchtime to ask him not to book me in at Titleist and we had a bit of a chat about the reason.
He said that now even Ping are starting to charge. I find it hard to believe but he has no reason to lie to me because he knows I don't want a Ping club.

I think that the Cf fee is credited against clubs. Like has been said they don't push their own as they are more expensive but take the price off a set of irons and I don't think there would be much difference.

Having said this, my CF was 3 yrs ago

You're right. I rang them this afternoon and they said the £50 can only be used against clubs.

Shame. I was even toying with the idea of having the fitting in the morning then using the credit to play the PGA National in the afternoon.

I can see why they wouldn't do it. Have a nice C/F fitting and get all your specs, use it to pay for a round and naff off and order the clubs elsewhere and cheaper. I doubt they are the cheapest but also doubt they'll be the most expensive either so £50 off the RRP seems pretty decent

When I went there they were alot more expensive, everything was full RRP. In my case the driver I wanted (FT-9) had been out for a little while so there were plenty of deals elsewhere.

Not surprised about not being able to use on green fees, even the pro shop at my club will not allow you to use shop credit on green fees. That said, apologies for the duff info on what you can spend it on. As I was buying a club, albeit not the one I was fitted for, I had no reason to think that I could not use it on other things.

No problem Greg. All info greatly appreciated :)
I want (would like) a fairway wood as well as driver, maybe go to a 4 wood and ditch the evil hybrid. Or maybe keep the 3 wood and get a 2 iron. Decisions decisions :D

I think I could use the 1.5hrs for 2 clubs then I could buy the cheaper one from there and the driver from my pro.

Twelve days into the year and talking about spending already

I assume you are going to try the 910D3, if so could you try and let me know what shafts they have to try (x-flex) i may head there myself if your report is good

They asked over the phone if there were any specific clubs I wanted to try.

I said the 910 and the TM R9. The rest I'll leave up to the fitter, hoping that their experience will let them judge what they think might suit me. I really want the 910 to be the best though, although I've no idea if the D2 or D3 will suit best. I hit my driver very low imo so prob D2.

I think I need a high launch low spinning shaft and head combo, but we'll see what happens coz I know jack. Any guesses anyone?

I'll ask about the x-flex shafts if I remember in the heat of it, but I won't be trying any of them ;)

I hit a few balls with an R9 that a bloke at the range had last night. I asked him if I could have a few hits with it so I knew what to expect (a bit) tomorrow when I go for the TM fitting. It was lovely! Not quite set up the way I need it, but lovely nonetheless!

Good luck with the fitting Region.
