Being a Pro can be lonely....

Interesting article and reminded me of the book "Four Iron in the Soul" by Lawrence Donegan. He was a sports journalist who spent a year caddying on the European Tour - in the mid-90s IIRC. It really opened my eyes to how unglamorous it is/was - unless you're at the top. Good book, recommended.

Just because you have it worse than someone else doesn't mean they shouldn't get empathy.

Our society today is I feel polluted by resentment brought about by us always comparing our own lot with that of others - or putting one group AGAINST another. Rather than just considering our own lot in isolation of the rest. And we can do that.

Likewise here. Our OP quotes from a Pro golfer - and immediately the individual and personal concerns of that golfer are held up for comparison with those of others - when the Pro isn't saying his job is the worst for being away from home - or even that terrible - just that it isn't great. And he's only talking about himself and his family.
